Taking Ibuprofen After Sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim

I took sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim 800/160 mg which expired 2 years ago; but i only took half and I have had a headache all day.

Can I now take ibuprofen for the headache? My last dose was 4 and a half hours ago.

I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but it is always best to double check to be sure.

Since the Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim is an antibiotic, why did you only take half of it? Given that it was also expired, that would likely not be an appropriate dose to treat an infection.

The FDA also lists headaches as being one of its possible side effects, along with nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash.
