Taking Nitrofurantoin Mono Mac 100mg For Long Term

My Neurologist prescribed Nitrofurantoin Mono-MCR 100mg for the rest of my life

Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic usually used in treating urinary tract infections and also against E. Coli. I'm not sure what relation an antibiotic would have to nerve problems, but there are other natural antibiotics in the form of fruits, vegetables, herbs, oils, etc; that in my opinion can be a more feasible long term approach to killing bacteria.

Is there any specific reason why your Neurologist recommend an antibiotic for life?
