Tussigon, commmonly used for dogs, contains Homatropine and Hydrocodone. This is a narcotic cough medication, not a a heart medication.

The Hydrocodone helps prevent the coughing, it is also used in the manner for humans.

Was there anything else I can help you with?

My dog has cancer and the tumor ion his heart valve is bleeding into his chest cavity. he has had his chest drained twice in the past 2 weeks. The tablets are helping his cough and he is sleeping better at night. Unfortunately it is only a matter of time for him. The cancer is throughout his body. He will be 11 on May 11. I hope he makes it.

Walgreens will make the medication, but for 30- 5mg pills I paid about $29. Maybe Walmart or Sams club can get it for you.

My little yorkie, 13 years, has been prescribed Tussigon for her extremely collapsed trachea. It helps with the coughing and keeps her sedated.

Gizmo Says:

I don't believe anyone was saying it was a heart medicine. It was prescribed along with Lasik and Vetmedin for my dog and only for the continual cough that goes along with congestive heart failure.
