Syp Valparin 2oo Side Effects

my daughter has 4 years and 2 months age, she has suffering high temperature & fits in last week. doctors diagnosis seizure disorder and suggest to take a medicine syp. valparin 200 for a period of two years. please tell me why it happened to my daughter ? Is there any side effect of VALPARIN 200 ?

My three eight old daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy. The doctor has prescribed Valparin 200 syrup twice a day. Is Valaprin safe for long-term use? What are the side effects of Valaprin? She is now filling heavy weakness.

my baby is 2 yrs old ,he had fever suddenly he got convelsion six times ,he was hospitalised ,now the Dr has given him valparin syrup to continue for 1 year ,will there be any side affects plz reply

Side effects of Valparin (Valproic Acid) can include any of the following:

On the part of the digestive system: rarely - nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and / or constipation, hepatitis, pancreatitis.

Allergic reactions: seldom - skin rash, itching, photosensitivity, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

From the side of the central nervous system: rarely - ataxia, tremor, impaired consciousness, coma.

On the part of the reproductive system: rarely - menstrual cycle, secondary amenorrhea.

On the part of the hemopoietic system: rarely - anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, leukopenia, a decrease of fibrinogen, inhibition of platelet aggregation.

Other: 2-12% - Hair loss, rarely - an increase of body weight, ammoniemia, creatinemia.

My child is 4 years old. He faced convulsion on 16.09.2010,Dr. advised us to give him val.syrup 200 for next 3 years.But, i want to know for actually how much time it should be given? & what are the possibilities if we are planning for a second chind,that he may suffer the same problem.
