Switching From Bisoprolol And Amiodarone To Atenolol

Just coming off Bisoprolol and Amiodarone and going back to Atenolol. I currently have bad problems with sleeping as I wake up at 5am. What could cause this problem?

Even when you don't abuse a medication, and aren't addicted to it, you do develop a tolerance to anything you take for awhile, so it is normal to experience some withdrawal effects when coming off of it, you can also experience side effects from going back on the Atenolol, even if you took it, previously, and both of these can include trouble sleeping, as well as blood pressure changes, dizziness, and heart rate changes.

It may take a few weeks, before things settle back down, and your sleeping schedule improves.

Thank you for advice will try and be patient with the Atenolol but quite hopeful as took for it for three years probably. My doctor given me some Zolpidem to help me sleep as thinks the Amerodian I was on can take months to get out of your system so thinks that could be causing my sleeping problems as it is a side effect of Amerodian. If you are familiar with side effects of Amerodian please let me know what you no. As struggling as never had sleep problems in all my 78 years. Thanks for your reply. Mike
