Sulfameth Tmp Ds Side Effects When Taking Lipitor

I started taking Lipitor and Sulfameth/TMP at the same time. a week later I have a stiff neck. I have finished the Sulfameth but stiff neck remains. It has been 5 days now.

I have been taking lipitor for many years and just recently started taking sulfameth/trime week and half ago for UTI. I have had stiff neck and headach few days after starting. I also feel like I have the flu with aches and pains in my joints. I work outside and the heat is killing me, also have trouble falling asleep.I'm supposed to take 2 of these daily for 15 days. I have skipped some days just to feel better.

Lipitor contains the active ingredient Atorvastatin, it is used to help lower cholesterol and it can cause these types of muscle and joint aches, as side effects.

Thus, to the original poster, if you're still having the problem, after finishing the antibiotic, then you should consult your doctor. This may not be the right medication for you to take.

To those on the Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim, the active ingredients in Bactrim, yes, it is known to cause some of these problems as side effects.

If you browse our site, you will see many posts about people who have had trouble sleeping, while taking it.

Such problems should reverse themselves, after you finish your course of the medication, however, if they continue then you will need to contact your respective doctors.

I also developed a rash that started on my legs. I stopped taking the medicine and called my doctor who advised me to stop taking it and he gave me another prescription, which gave me no side effects. Seems I am alergic to sulfa. The symptoms took a few days to go away, but I am fine now. Thanks for the information.
