Mary Ann Says:

I am recovering from a severe case of pneumonia, beginning in March. I was given levofloxacin and, following recurrence a steroid. Two weeks ago the pulmonologist said my lungs were clear (xray). However I am still short of breath and have some discomfort in my chest. Is this just part of the recovery process?

David Says:

Are you aware of whether or not you have an allergy to sulfa?

Only asking because there are a number of sulfa related allergy symptoms, which may explain what you're experiencing...

"Lung reactions: Sulfa allergy can affect the lung, with pneumonia-like reactions, worsening asthma and vasculitis occurring."

Referenced from: allergies.about.com/od/medicationallergies/a/sulfa.htm

I hope this info helps!
