Subutex Doctor Needed In Indianapolis Area

Updated

Hello, my husband is a chronic addict, When saying that I mean he will do anything and he will do any amount at anytime and he doesnt care. He has been doing very well though here lately hes held a job for a few years, staying out of jail and he started a treatment program about 40 miles from where we live and he was taking the drug Subutex there. The issue with that is he had to go there everyday to get the dose. If you think about it, how can anyone do that and hold a job or afford to live right doing that, so hes been on 24mg a day and now hes not going there and we need to find a reasonably priced doctor that he can see to get the prescription for this medication and get it monthly. We do not have insurance so that is also a factor alot of doctors in the treatment list wont help if you are uninsured, can someone help tell me who will? Please!

Hello, Charlamae! How are you and your husband?

I understand that it was inconvenient, but virtually all addiction treatment doctors and clinics require daily visits, at least for a certain period of time. Even Methadone clinics require someone to show that they are responsible and want to get well, by being their every day for awhile, before they can earn take home doses. The government also requires that the doctors regularly monitor these patients and that they attend some type of addiction counseling.

I wish I had better news for you, but I don't. Many people do participate in the treatment and still hold down their jobs and care for their families. It's tough, but it can be done.

Has he considered trying Methadone? There may be a clinic closer to you that treats with it.

The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Does anyone else have any ideas that might help?

I don't know about your area, however in Texas, I received Suboxone for over a year, on a monthly basis, from a Psychiatrist as a regular Dr was not able to prescribe it. I called the local Walgreens and asked the pharmacy dept, if they could look up what local Dr could prescribe this drug, as I wanted to stop being dependant on a seven year hydrocodone dependence. Anyway, it's just a thought.. hope it help's, I would not try the Methadone route, it's very addictive as well..just drug swapping, so to speak. Good Luck..It all get's better..Ps. the lower the dose of Suboxone, the better.. not much is needed and all withdrawal symptoms..are so much better.:)

We live in the Indianapolis Indiana area. And the cost of traveling to the nearest clinic (we are a hour from one) and the charges are not feasible. To any addict, its simply cheaper to get drugs from the street and more convenient so to try to get help doing that well if you been down this road you would know that there arent going to do that, but the doctors here do treatment programs with the meds to take home for a month and the cost is little to nothing for Subutex daily dosage if you find a doctor that will write it. Suboxone is not, its very high priced and not good suit for his needs, so if anyone can direct me to a doctor in cincinnati or indy that will help please post a reply. Thank you

Good Morning Dear,
The replies you received are different from my state, Massachusetts. I would like to address the post from the person who said don't use Methadone because it is just as addicting. Subutex is addicting as well and Methadone can also be to.It all depends upon what ones objectives are. When you say getting off Dope (H) and getting on (M) is swapping drugs for drugs I have an issue with that. This womans husband needs drastic intervention NOW and I have been alive now three years because of Methadone Maintenance. Most (M) programs have to adhere to strict protocols as it is a federally funded and monitored through the FDA and they all follow the SAMASHA curriculum. January 15 was my Three years of being street drug free. The first day I began Methadone Maintenance I never touched any other substance that wasn't prescribed by a medical doctor. I just recently decided it was time to start reducing my dose as part of MY own life plan. Just a side note regarding suboxone, my son is prescribed it and there is not nearly as much individual strict rules and regulations as well as personal support. I believe a person who decides to choose (m)ends up with a higher success rate. BTW my son is moody on suboxone and I enjoyed being in his company before suboxone. I am going to have to go. I would like to say each person has their own preference so it wouldn't hurt to go on Methadone Maintenance. There should be a clinic somewhere in your state demographically closer I believe RIGHT NOW. This is a disease and condition that could end a persons life at any time. One bad bag of dope that may be laced with who knows what. In our state in Salem where my son that's on the suboxone (I use to live with him but I fell down three flights of stairs and broke my back as well as permanent spinal cord injury and more and his roommate got behind me as I was crying for help and all Aaron could say to me was "Mom it's 5:00 o-clock in the dam morning and I got no sleep last night" real supportive son) Forgive me for being selfish. This is for you honey. {edited for privacy}. Chow

Due to my insurance, suboxone which I have been on for years is not covered. I know subutex is one forth the price but my doctor will not prescribe it. I live in Highland Indiana (Lake Co) and discount cards are only giving 15 dollars off suboxone which still comes out to 490 dollars. Does anyone know of a doctor who will help?

Re: Subutex4 (# 10) Expand Referenced Message

Do these doctors prescribe subutex for men as well? I’ve been on and off opioids for years. Suboxone usually got me clean. I’ve developed a hypersensitivity to it now and get super super sick and awful side effects from suboxone now. And can’t find a doctor to prescribe me subutex because I’m not pregnant. But if I go check into a rehab facility that’s what they’ll give me. Unfortunately I’m the provider for my family. So I can’t leave my job for a week to go detox. So I need a doctor that I can see cash or insurance that will prescribe me.
