Suboxone Precipitated Withdrawal

Updated

Hi all, first time posting. Thanks for reading. I have been on suboxone (will call SB bc I don't like "bupe" or "subs"... they just sound like using talk to me and I'm trying to avoid that, nothing against anyone, just my thing...) So today I woke up, took my spironolactone, wellbutrin, abilify, adderall, provigil, and 2mg SB bc I'm trying to taper off. Then I remembered I'm out of the armor thyroid that I switched to about 6 months ago, so I took my levothyroxine. I then took 2 tylenol, had black coffee, green tea with splenda, and toast. A couple minutes later I used the off brand monostat for a yeast infection I'm sure I have, but haven't been to the md yet, and some hydrocortisone. I also smoked about 1/4 of a cigarette... after a few minutes I realized that my head and my stomach were really hurting, and my body, so I laid down thinking that maybe the infection just made me feel ick... but then I recognized the familiar leg pain/restlessness, the difficulty breathing and the overwhelming nausea that accompanies withdrawal for me. So I took another 2mg SB and 1mg ativan and it's gone away some... any idea what the hell could have caused the withdrawal? None of these meds are new... I have taken the abilify & adderall a couple weeks, the rest I have taken for years! And I have used the creams before! I'm at a loss. I know it was withdrawal bc it is the only thing that makes me feel like that. I have scoured the Internet and nada... it said be detailed, so I was ;) thanks! :)

What were your prior doses of Suboxone? IE: How long have you been taking the 2mg dose?

Tapering has to be done very carefully to prevent withdrawal symptoms, such as those you experienced. Other Suboxone withdrawal symptoms may include diarrhea, seizures, rebound pain, and depression.

The Levothyroxine needs to be taken at least a half hour, before you eat, or drink anything else.

So sorry you had to deal with that feeling. And i hate to be the bad news bear but unless youve been on 2 mgs of suboxone long enough to for it to be leveled out in your body this may happen more because of its half life.

By that i mean 2 mgs feels fine until day 3 or 4 because of the half life. So your body just needed that extra to feel ok. You did the right thing by taking another 2 mgs.

Unfortunately There is no quick fix for getting off suboxone either and from experience its sucks so bad id rather deal with 4-7 days from other opiates than suboxone again. I won't go into detail but i will say that i was fine until day 4 off no suboxone then the nightmare began and lasted a dreadful 3-6 months with the first 30 not being able to walk more than to the bathroom. Day 30 magically they felt normal again. Lost 40lbs and sleep impossible, though with that drug cocktail you'll be fine.
