Suboxone Hot Flashes

Updated

My girlfriend takes Suboxone and recently the pharmacy has switched brands. They are orange, slightly smaller and have 970 on one side. I think she is having terrible SE from them. Under her tongue is raw so bad. Also hot flashes. Severe. Head to toe she gets soaked! This seems since the pharmacy changed pills. Has anyone had these symptoms?

Yes!! These new orange Sun Pharma 970 are awful! I was unfortunate to get some of those with my last script. I hated them so bad I searched over 7 pharmacies in towns an hour away just to find the Amneal AN 415 orange ones again this past Saturday for my months script. Thank goodness i found a pharmacy with just enough to fill my whole script so I wouldn't have to take any of those other kind. I am a self pay patient so I can usually switch when i want idk how it works for insurance patients. Most pharmacists are under the impression that all manufacturers of medication are the same. What kind was she getting beforehand? I would try to talk to the pharmacist. Although, I know thats not very helpful. They aren't always that helpful when it comes to different manufacturers.

Hi Blondie,

Sorry to hear about your girlfriend. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the following symptoms are listed as possibles side effects of Suboxone:

-sweating
-fever
-burning sensations
-swelling or tingling in your mouth (allergic reaction)

Source: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMHT0009356

NIH recommends contacting the prescribing doctor immediately if these symptoms become too bothersome or severe. I hope that she's gotten around to feeling better since the timing of your post.

Thanks for answering. The pharmacy had no problem switching. The new one is more peach color with 54 375. Under the tongue burn, that is gone. As far as hot flahes its still in debate since she just got them yesterday. She says the taste is definetly better. So, the hot flash remains to be seen. Or felt. Thanks again!

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one with issues with those Sun Pharma 970 ones. I'm glad she was able to get switched. I have tried one of those peach ones and I didn't like them much myself. Mainly just because I've always liked these Amneal ones best. What kind was she taking before ? Did the pharmacy state why the switch?
