Suboxone Chat Room (Page 4)

Updated

I have now been on suboxone for a year, I got on it when I found out I was pregnant last January 2013 and I had my beautiful healthy daughter in August 2013 I used to be on subutex during my pregnancy but once I had my daughter I was switched to suboxone. I am on 2 1/2 strips a day and my doctor has been wanting to lower my dose however I have so much going on that I am really nervous to do so. I have lately been dealing with my daughter on my own her father just didn't show me the respect I deserved and he wasn't willing to work to support our daughter so we separated and now I am left on my own with all the finances out daughter and looking for employment which this all just recently happened since the last time I saw my doctor on top of that my daughter has medical issues due to her throat not developing correctly during my pregnancy so we have multiple doctor visits for her monthly and she has special feeding rules and medications to take so I am very overwhelmed. My doctor seems to be harder on me then his other patients some who have been on suboxone for 5+ years so this is making me very nervous to ask him to up my dose from 2 1/2 to 3 strips a day. Does anyone have any advice? I've really been trying to stick it out but I just feel like an emotional wreck and like my body can't take the stress. Please I need advice! How should I ask my doctor to up my dose?

I've taken all of the different Suboxone tablets and the only ones that do not work are "970". Well they do, just not as well, but just have the worst taste and "AN 415" and "54 375" are exactly the same. I would say personally the best are pink with "8".

You don't need to up your dose you just think u do or you want to make something off them. I was on black tar for ten years faithfuly. I could do enough at one time to kill 3 regular people. All I was taking for the last two years I was on it was a quarter a strip a day and I work 12 hour shifts. I suggest you get up and move around more and stop trying to be high that ruins it high is a mind thing try and focus on forcing it you'll never have it just get on with life and you'll notice it's there and man it's stronger than I thought.

My suggestion would be to find another doctor who understands and who will keep you on the suboxone.

I’m wondering if anyone else has been in the situation I’m in... I’m on subs 2mg a day.. I went to a diet dr today and got adipex.. they didn’t ask many questions. I was planning on not taking it until after I go to my sub doctor bc I take a U/A every month.. I planned on just taking the adipex here and there to help me lose weight and stopping taking them before I would go to my next sub appointMent. So... now I’m worried that when I go to get my subs filled next week they’re going to see in their database that I’m on the diet pills and not want to fill my script. does anyone have experience with a situation like this?

I went to diet dr in past, got same thing- my Suboxone doctor was fine with it at first ( I asked beforehand) ; but the following month he acted like he had NO IDEA I was going to be taking it ( Adipex) and he told me not to get anymore of it filled if I want to stay on Subs. That was the end of the diet dr for me!! My advise is to tell your Sub doc ASAP so he does not think you are trying to " get one over on him" - Good Luck!

Good for you congratulations on the daughter! Honey I would try to get off of the Suboxone as quick as possible! It's a wonderful drug that saved my life but becoming addicted to it is no fun when you go off do it safely with your care provider but they're telling me it might be a lifelong prescription which kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it lol

I've only been on Suboxone for 10 weeks at 24mg. Since starting Suboxone I've had more anxiety and panic attacks than ever. 2 1/2 weeks ago I dropped down to 20mg and tomorrow I'm going down to 16mg. I hope you found the answers you were looking for. I'm wondering if anyone has advice for tapering off suboxone?

Stay focused you can do this LESS IS MORE, be smart you now where MORE gets us so your doing well. Sit down with your doctor and talk about it. This is my story... pills, oxy, and more over a 25 yr period. I finally surrendered to the detox center where I was put on 8mg that's all. Granted I was using all day everyday cause I ran a trap house so my tolerance was through the roof on opioids. My point is now that I've been over 3 years clean I'm starting to down dose from 8 to 6 to 4. So now I've been on 4mg for four months. I'm scared to go any further. I feel that's the uneasiness of not having a crutch to lean on sooner or later I'd love to see myself on nothing at all. Thank you God that I'm no longer in that dark gutter I called a life. I wish you all peace much gratitude...

Wow I couldn't agree more with what you've said. 30yr addict myself did the methadone thing took me a month if withdrawal to get off. Now going on my 4th yr clean I started on 8mg as of now I'm on 4mgs but I'm having that stinking thinking of wow I'm really close to having nothing to rely on and that TERRIFIES me. I mean I'm AA and have a support system which helps but I DONT KNOW HOW LIVE WITHOUT.....on top of all that they diagnosed me with COPD,and cirrhosis of the liver. These health problems sometimes make me want to throw in the towel out of fear of what my life may look like when the dust TRULY settles and I meet ME for the FIRST time ever. Thank you for this forum.

Yo so I've been on methadone for 11 years 180 mg for s*** like nine of the years that I was on it and then I'm down to 110 mg 3 days ago I said y'all I'm tired of this I'm done going and docent so I went ahead and went two days without went to the hospital they gave me a Subutex it sent me straight into the worst withdrawals you could ever imagine I waited 24 hours I cautiously took 2 mg strip waited 1 hour took another 2 mg strip that no 4 mg strip I'm not 100% better but I'm nowhere near where I was

My heart goes out to you, yes it is very difficult with a young child and no father or partner. The only thing I can ask is what strength is the sheets you take? 2mg. 4mg or 8mg. The reason i ask is because depending on the amount you take will indicate how severe or mild withdrawals can be, Jan

Re: Cats68 (# 9) Expand Referenced Message

I totally agree with you catz. Last month, my suboxone doctor temporarily closed down his office giving me referrals to other pain doctors. That was a nightmare, every day I would call 2 - 3 doctors with them not returning my calls or such. I had run out of subs, so for 7 days I detoxed. AAAAAGGHHH terrible. Luckily In found a good doc that put me back on 4 - 6mg aday, so I feel happy that I wont worry about it, Jan

Suboxone isn’t a psych med. I don’t get why your relationship with your kids dad would affect your need for MAT.

Re: patty p (# 6) Expand Referenced Message

Withdrawals are freaking awful too, I took Suboxone thinking that it would help me not have withdraws after taking pain medication as prescribed for years, it was a huge mistake. I slowly wean myself off the Suboxone over a six month period and it still took about a month to withdraw from them. later on in life when I had to take pain medication again for a couple years and then quit the withdrawals only lasted a week. I would never take Suboxone again.

What’s the difference though? You’re still taking an opiate every single day all day. Is it just that now your insurance company pays for it?
