I know Suboxone does not show up in a standard urine test. But the job I am applying for may do an extended test. I have a prescription from my Doc I am on 16mg a day and it is working great. But I was wondering if I stopped taking it how long til my urine is clean, I appreciate your comments.

just to inform you this does show up in a standard drug test. also it depends on how long you have been on the drug and how many mg to know about how long it will take to get it out of your system.

Actually, suboxone will not show up in any drug test unless it is specifically looked for. I was tested weekly for a long time, and had the full 12 panel extended test done monthly, and nothing showed up. I asked my dr and his reply was that unless suboxone is specifically looked for it will not show up.

After questioning a few friends who do drug screens and urine testing for potential employers, they all told me the same thing. Suboxone requires its own separate test at this point and will not show up on a standard urine drug screen. Personally I passed a full 12 panel test to work in a hospital while I was currently taking two full suboxones a day. Never a mention of it, the only thing that came back was the zanax(which I am legitimately prescribed ny my shrink). So if you're serious about the Suboxone therapy I wouldn't necessarily sweat the drug test for Suboxone. Like I said, all of my contacts were people who test or develop testing and drug screening equipment for a living. And for me personally it was a non issue. As a matter of fact I took 2 full tablets inthe 24 hours leading up to the test. I know there are a lot of people out there who would make up a story just to have some one listen to them and fail. but I've been clean for a few months now because of the Suboxone. It really saved my life. I was able to get my dream job, get back the love of my life but most importantly I got me back and now I'm even better than I remembered I was. I wish you luck my friend and hopefully ina few weeks you'll bew able to taste the fruits of success as I did because of this therapy

Also from the same sources and the Drs themselves based on my dosage it would take just over 72 hours to pass thru my system. Thats just my situation, it depends on dosage, length of treatment, body type and metabolism but if you want an educated guess I'd say 3 to 5 days to be 100% positive. Remember I'm NOT a Dr. This is just based on my personal experience and research. I wish you the best my friend.

Try going by what I said. I tested with a full 12 panel test every month for 12 months and by what my Dr. said. See my comment below.

But if I had done heroin lets say yesterday and started taking suboxone today. Would the Naltrexon (2mg) in the suboxone wash away the heroin metabolite for the next 3 days or should I wait? I know urine test look for metabolites not the actual drug. If the Naltrexon in the Suboxen blocks the heroin form being process into the metabolite would the urine test come out dirty or clean. Suboxen is a great medication, it is extremely safe and I feel much more normal than on methadone.

eve Says:

actually the naltraxone in the suboxone is only bioliavailable via iv injection. meaning the small amt of naltraxone is not absorbed sublinglly or orally or intranasally when you take your suboxone. it is there to prevent people from shooting up their subs. so if you shoot up the sub its gonna have a narcan effect and your gonna have a really bad day. even subutex will " block" other opiates. but that is because your opiate receptors in your brain like the bupronorporien (spelling) more than opiates. the bond is stronger. basically you can bump the subs out but it takes a real high dose to do it. so no naltraxone will not cover up your heroin use, the metobiltes will still be in your urine, and it will test positive for morphine because heroine is a morphine derived. if you dont bellieve me ask your sub dr he/she will verify all i have said.

Hey just to let you all know suboxen does not show up on a standard drug test unless they actually test for it. I know this for a factt because I'm on drug court. And it takes longer than heroine or opiates to rid out of your system. For example I took a sub on a Saturday around 6 pm and took a drug test wed morning and it still showed up in my system! One single use of a 8 mg suboxen. Luckily I'm prescribed it by a doctor. But I am wondering this...I haven't used in 3 weeks and I wanna do one bag on Friday but I have a drug test Monday 3 days later...will it show up in my system? Someone please help..this sucks! I hate drug court ;( if it does its not worth means jail time for mee so someone who's been in da same situation could you please give me an idea of what to expect and if it will be out of my system in 72 hrs? I literally have 72 hrs...thanks!

I really love what you had to say here. I was in the same position. I had decided to get my life back on track two yrs ago. I got into a program, got back into school -- focusing full time on that and finishing this yr, and now I have the best job in the world. I actually do drug rehabilitation. Keep your head up, its great of you to use your experiences to encourage others. Wonderful!! :-)

Actually, the buprenorphine in suboxone does show up in a 12 panel urine drug test. I was very surprised to have found this out. I can assure you this is true.

im replying to eve comment i dont exactly understand what your saying but i take suboxone everyday so do all my friends none of us have a bad day... Taking it is fine other than the fact its bad for your body. and if you do an opiate dont do subs right after if you have done subs and want to do opiates you are fine to you will just need much more than normal, about 3 times the amount in my case.

Why? They don't do well recreationally, so why would you take them any other way?

Subs are often used recreationally. And as far as the "shooting up" comments, I'm guessing they are not talking about the strips, just the tablets. As far as a urine test... I don't know for sure, but have read a lot of forums about this. It seems they have to have a test that specifically searches for the buprenorphine
