Suboxone Or Subutex

Updated

I live in NH and a long list to wait. I got into a situation I've been seeing the doctor always clean urine, never any issues then one day I go in and they swear they called me in but because I had recently moved I had given my moms # and she had her call history going back 2 months and no call at all. Unless they called my old # so now I go back on the list and have been waiting for 3 months. I'm a mess there is only one other clinic around here and its almost a year to wait.. I'm at a loss. There have been people I know that called and got put on the list way after the day this happened and they are already in. I just don't know what to do. She said there was nothing she could do but put me back on the list. And its driving me nuts because I know people who get their prescription just to sell them to buy the exact drugs they are supposedly taking suboxone to get off. I just don't know what to do anymore...

Hi Ginger,

It definitely hasn't been easy for many people to get ahold of Suboxone/Subutex as well as many other prescription meds these days. I think there needs to be more of a realization that we can't continue to stay dependent on medication that is man made. We have to find the inner strength to look for what the earth has already provided and learn how to utilize it for our benefit as a whole.

If you're looking to detox your system and withdraw from other medications, I think one of the best things you could do is to eat clean and exercise. It's amazing what the body can do when it's provided with all of its essential nutrients! I do believe that your body's ability to heal is greater than anyone has permitted you to believe.

Good luck to you!

Oh please. I'm in a similar situation, Ginger - and it sucks. I've been on pain meds since a work related accident in 1995. They threw me on tons of meds while having me do physical therapy. PT is a joke. I've had over 30 rounds of injections in my spine, been on just about every pain medication known to man, have had surgeries, and have a central spinal stimulated implanted. I've tried getting off the medications - but it's impossible. I hate taking them - and have been taking them for so long there isn't even a question of me getting "high" from them, just to deter anyone from suggesting that. My problem with the whole thing is that doctors used to throw people on massive amounts of opiates when they had a significant injury. Well, now the train of thought has totally changed (personally I don't know if it's really based on scientific findings...or just the DEA cracking down)...but what people need to realize is that you can't put someone on massive amounts of opiates for 10, 15, 20 years...then cut them off. It doesn't work that way. I am on Suboxone - I took it a few years ago while attempting to get myself off all pain meds. I took it for about 2 1/2 years...and it was HORRID to get off of. I was told it was not addictive - but it is. I titrated down...but wound up back on opiates because the pain was so severe I couldn't get out of bed in the morning. I wanted to take a med break a few months ago...so I'm back on Subs. The problem is, it seems to become less effective over time. Last time I took it, it worked for a few years. This time the benefits seem to have already decreased...and it's only been 9 months. The future scares me but I don't know what the answers are. (That's probably why the future scares me!) All I can suggest is to stay on the list and hope your turn is soon. You wrote in March so I'm wondering if you've made any progress on your status? I'm sorry to hear you are in a similar situation - but there are a LOT of us out there. Don't let anyone make you think you are crazy for needing pain meds - I struggled with the stigma for a long time. I've finally come to peace with my situation - and no matter how much I don't want to continue taking them, my pain level says I'll continue with them. Do what is best for you - and forget anyone who says you're doing it wrong or should be doing things differently. Eating well and exercising are great suggestions...but they don't ease chronic pain. There are some natural remedies that can help. If you are still on the wait list you may want to try looking them up. I hope you find what works for you and that it all works out soon.
