does anyone know if you can use nicotine patches while taking chantix ## Well they say you can still smoke while you are on it, because while it acts like nicotine does in the body, it doesn't have nicotine in it, so I would not see why the patches would cause a problem either, and there are no warnings not to do so, or of any adverse reactions in the monograph. ## I was advised by my doctor to not use the patch while on chantix. I have been using the drug now for a month and have had great sucess in stopping. The drug takes away the jitters that I had in past times of trying to stop. The patch will only make it harder to stop and can cause nausia just like the pill that is given to those that are alcoholics. I have been on Chantix for not quite 3 weeks, including the starter pack. (The only thing is, I have missed a few times, but not any more!) Am I the only one struggling with quitting? I have cut back to half of what I was smoking. I made my mind up that Today, May 1st, I am officially a NON- Smoker. I haven't smoked since last night, but I still am having the urges. I just have to try to think of something else. One good thing is, when I asked my grown Daughter if this med worked for me, would she be willing to try it. I have been taking chantex for almost 3 weeks. The week I stopped I did good. I was on a trip that week, but after returning home I have had a hard time with it. can chantix be taken if one is using paxil? ## I am not finding any interactions listed in the databases, however the best judge of their usage together would be your doctor and pharmacist. ## Hi Hannah, I'm on paxil and have been taking chantix for 1 1/2 weeks. How long do you have to be on this medication? ## Here's the main website for Chantix from the manufacturer Pfizer: Chantix Click Here Where you will find tons of information on the drug and its usage. The site says that most people will need to continue the drug for around 12 weeks, this of course will vary depending on how wel it is working for you and what your doctor recommends. ## I will tell you from my own experience that if the plan says 12 weeks do the 12 weeks. They have studied this drug long and hard and when they say 12 weeks they know more than we do. Stick to the 12 weeks and you will be more successful. Ok ok I am so happy today i have been smoke free for a month now. i have been smoking for 15 years and i told my doctor look i need help, i cant do it alone. i have a 8 yr. old son and i am 29 yrs old. gosh i really want to live not just for myself but for my son. so my doctor told me about chantix and put me on it. i smoked the first week i was on the pill, that following 7 days was my quit date. i woke up that monday morning and gosh i so wanted a cig. but i knew nope i cant do it i have to be strong. so i didnt smoke and i had four cigarettes left. the pills really really curbed my urge. it is so awesome. its been a month and i havent smoked yet. to top it all off i just would like to brag about this pill its toooooooo awesome. i feel like a new person for real. i smell better, taste...
