Any suggestions for restoring sense of smell and Taste? I have been diagnosed with nasal polyps! Oral steroids helps briefly.I have tried nasal sprays, did not help. I am looking into alternatives.....any one experienced restorations as I do not believe in surgery as it is only temporary...

Is there anyone who knows how long it takes for taste buds to return after taking champix. I took it for 3 days then quit them. Havnt eaten anything proper for a week as all of taste buds have gone. I am extremely fed up with this. Can anyone give me any hope?

Suggest you go see an ENT to rule out certain conditions that may be causing your loss of taste and smell. It can be caused by a lot of different things, including medications you may be taking, nasal polyps, brain tumor, zinc/vitamin deficiencies, or congestion due to allergies. My ENT ruled out brain tumor and nasal polyps, but determined that I have a Zinc deficiency and also on 2 different medications that can cause loss of taste/smell. I also have some chronic throat congestion, possibly due to allergies. He put me on 30 mg of Zinc and 50,000 IU of Vitamin A daily for 90 days, plus an allergy medication and nasal spray. He also switched me from Levothyroxine (Synthoid) to Armour Thyroid (all natural). I have been on this plan for approximately 2 weeks now, but no noticeable difference just yet. I will give it 3 months to see if it works. If not, I still have one other medication (Prolia) that could be causing or contributing to the problem. If no improvement after 3 months, I am coming off the Prolia.

It really depends on what has caused the issues, sometimes it can be due to medical conditions, some types of surgeries, or medications, according to NIH reports.

Donna, has there been any change, yet? Are you on any other medications?

Has anyone else experienced such issues?

Re: Verwon (# 4)

Allergy medication did not help. Some improvement with tasting savory foods after switching from Synthoid to Armor Thyroid, but still cannot taste anything that is sweet, other than a bitter metallic taste. I have decided to not take any more Prolia injections, as I suspect this may still be part of the problem with my taste. I recently found out that Prolia can cause chronic congestion. Since allergy meds didn’t do anything, strong possibility zprolia may be the issue. It will take a few months to get the drug totally out of system. I will post an update if any change in taste again.
