Yes, it is the same medication, just sold under a different name in a different country.

I have to disagree Sintrom and Warfarin might well be similar but they dont react the same way. In the UK I took Warfarin 22 mg per week to maintain 2.5 INR. When I moved to Spain I started using Sintrom and I was given 20 mg per week. Within 2 weeks I was 7.5 INR. Reduced to 10 mg per week and now I am back around 2.5 INR. The doctor in the hospital informed me they are not the same although similar. I would suggest caution when changing either way.

I have family in Europe and they can not afford medication. They were given a prescription of Sintrom 4. Could I give them Warfarin at the same dose? What would be the dose? What other caution aspects should I know.

In Canada the Chemists have notheard of Sintrom. I too take 1.5 Sintrom Uno in
Spain but I respond differently to Warfarin ,as I discovered. Whichever you take
I would advise taking that medication with you for the duration of your vacation.

THE RISKS OF ASKING "THE PEOPLE'S MEDICINE COMMUNITY"...
No, Sintrom (Acenocumarol) and Warfarin are NOT the same. They are used for the same purposes but are not interchangeable!
If you are taking anticoagulants and you have to travel or have questions please, for your own sake, ask your doctor or pharmacist, not an online community where anyone can give you any sort of answer.

I am going to New Zealand for four months to stay with my son. I had a heart attack in march and I have 2mg of sintrom per day. My inr is usually around 2.3 but yesterday it was 1.9 so I have to go back next week. Can I have inr tests in New Zealand, and will travelling the long flight affect me, do you have anymore information.

If you are in Marbella area Hellicopters Sanitas will check blood for €15:00. Just walk in and wait, just behind Puerto Banus
And they all speak English

I am 67 and live here in Spain. Under EU regulations pensioners are entitled to free Spanish NHS treatment after obtaining a S.I.P. card which is a simply transation. I take Simtrom and my blood is checked regularly. I have nothing but high praise for the Spanish Health system. Spain looks after their elderly population. Get here soon for much better healthy life. Good luck.

I've used sintron recommended by my Spanish doctor for 4 years I didn't know I had a problem but by his professional way he diagnosed arithmea. Have to have blood thickness checked 4/6 weekly but it's normally in parameters of 2-3.
No side effects just a normal life. Thanks
