Side Effects Of Aranesp Users

My father-in-law has been taking aranesp shots now for about 7 years for severe anemia. In the last year or so he is continually getting weaker and weaker in the muscle. We have had all kinds of test on his heart, and every test comes back normal. But, he certainly is not normal. I know he is elderly, but at this point has very difficult time walking. We had a physical therapist come to the house for about 6 to 7 weeks, he actually got worse. They told us he has severe muscle attrify? Has anyone else experience this with someone they are caring for and is using Aranesp. Thank You

My husband has been getting an aranesp injection for some time. His walking has become very limited as he is weak in his leg muscles & uses a walker. Went to new cancer doc & he said he needs p.t. so he will start that Mon. Also gave him pain meds for his hip pain. Hip pain is what caused him to want to walk less & less so lost muscle strength. Will see how p.t. goes. New doc said his weakness is not from the leukemia he has so that was great news to us.

Please help me, has anyone ever had there creatine level get worse after having aranesp injections

My husband after 6 months of Aranesp injections has great difficulty in walking, his Muscles have gone, he has CLL but since taking injections his kidney troubles have got much worse, his creatinine level has risen. I am trying to find if this injection could be the cause

Aranesp has been known to cause these types of issues as side effects, according to FDA reports, including the difficulty walking, and chronic renal failure, which is actually considered very common.

So yes, the respective doctors should be looking at the Aranesp as a possible cause, once other issues have been ruled out.

Are any of those taking it on any other medications, as well?
