Side Effects From Melatonin

I was given the ok to try melatonin. I took the first tablet last night and had a headache, nausea, and kept waking up with nightmares all night. I heard and read of drug interactions and that melatonin will decrease in your body naturally when you take melatonin so you keep the same level in your body. I also read that it can backfire in that your body has adjusted its level of melatonin down and when you stop taking supplement melatonin you may end up with insomnia. I was just wondering if anyone else had bad dreams when taking this?

Are you on any other medications?

Have you talked to your doctor about taking Melatonin?

Well I took half of a 3 mg - so 1.5 mg. Yes I talked to my doctor and with the other medications I take she said it was okay.
