Why would I have severe breathlessness after stopping natrilex the doctor has tried a number of times even my cardiologist has taken me off it and the same thing happened after many scans nothing showed the local gp started it again 4-5 days later breathing returned to normal but now it's the probable cause of gout in knee so would like to stop natrilex

Hello, Winkey! How are you? Did you stop it abruptly, or did you taper off of it?

If you stopped it abruptly, the breathing issue may be due to some withdrawal effects. While this medication isn't habit forming, your body does get used to anything you take regularly for a long period of time, according to the NIH, so some withdrawal or rebound effects may occur.

Are you on any other medications?

And yes, it has been known to cause elevated uric acid levels, which can lead to gout.
