Sertraline 100 Mg Tablets

Can Sertraline 100 mg tablets be cut in to four pieces and still be effective? My doctor has given me the okay to try different dosages. 50 mg is not enough and I would like to try 75 mg but Sertraline does not come in that dosage. I have 100 mg tablets and want to break them in half and then cut some of the havles in half to get 75 mg. Will doing this cause a problem with how effective the medication is?

No, it isn't time released, so cutting them won't have an effect on the efficacy and make them more or less effective.

However, there are 25mg tablets, so it may be easier to see if your doctor can prescribe a weeks worth of them to take with half of one of the others. That way your dosing can be more precise, but you aren't paying for a full months worth that you may not end up needing.
