Seroquel Given To Elderly Dad With Dementia

My dad was given Seroquel to control his bad behavior in a nursing home. He has dementia. He immediately had a bad reaction to the drug. He went from being able to sit up, walk with a walker, talk, eat on his own to not being able to walk, slurring his speech, being confused, and crying uncontrollably. He also got more aggressive. Instead of stopping the drug, they gave him a higher dose. That's when it really got sad. After the higher dose of seroquel, my dad could not sit up on his own, could not feed himself, and could not talk. He stares straight ahead in a confused void. It is so sad that he cannot communicate because he does seem like he can understand sometimes. He has trouble breathing and has declined so badly that he probably will not live much longer. Seroquel kills the elderly and doctors need to stop prescribing it for bad behavior!

Seroquel definitely sounds like one of those horror drugs, judging from the side effects of it. I have to wonder if it would be worth your time trying to fight back at the drug companies for making such unethical synthetic garbage, (for lack of a better term). I wish you and your dad the best and know that karma will come around to all these pharmaceutical companies who are doing people wrong.

Sounds to me like your dad is having a bad reaction to the drugs. My son took it when he was 12 for aggression in autism. I would talk to the Dr about a titration schedule to get your dad off this now!
