Sacramento, Ca Area Doctor Who Prescribes Methadone For Pain

Both my husband and I have been on methadone for pain mgmt for over 5 yrs. We moved to Marysville, Ca and can't find a doctor that prescribes methadone so we are extending our search area to include Sacramento area doctors. We are both ill from withdraw and after a very tearful conclusion that we had no options but to enroll at the local methadone clinic. we are back home worse than ever as they won't take us because we take it for pain. Of course by now we are completely addicted but because we weren't on it exclusively for addiction they just said good luck and there's the door. PLEASE help. We are self employed and money is not an issue even if we have to pay to see a doctor.

There is no such thing as a Methadone doctor, that might be what's complicating things for you. You can't look for a doctor by trying to find out what they will or will not prescribed, they'll just view that as being drug seeking behavior and not even let you get in the door.

You'll need to set up an appointment with a new pain management specialist, without asking them about Methadone upfront. Make sure they get a full copy of your medical records, then go to the appointment and discuss your treatment options. Once they see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe accordingly.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?

I recently saw a prescription 5 mg methadone of a total of 120 . July 23rd for 120. Dr Sharma Kingshu? Here in Sacramento. Hope this helps

I've never heard such bull...If they turned you down for that, they failed you. I transferred from my pain mgmt. group to a Clinic, and NOTHING was mentioned about it..I'm sorry, find a Dr...regular PCP to help you find an option...be honest and tell them the truth...they SHOULD help you...

I'm looking for a pain management Dr. in the bay area who is not afraid to prescribe opiates. I've been on 180 mg/morphine/day for over 10 years. I've lost my current Dr. I've got 2 weeks of meds left. Any names? Plus how can people afford to go to a dr's first visit and not have a clue as to whether the dr will prescribe anything close to what they need? Then if not they have to pay for the next? I only have medi-cal & I don't think anyone takes that for pain mgmt. Help!!!
