Can Suboxone And Benzodiazepines Work Together?

Does the Buprenorphine / Naloxone 8mg / 2mg Film block Benzodiazepines from doing their job? I'm trying to figure out if Suboxone blocks anything else but opiates?

Dear Allie, I'm on suboxone as well as Klonopin. The Klonopin has always worked well for me, and, I've been on them both 4 almost 8 years.

Your doctor should have informed you that the Naloxone in the Suboxone only blocks opioids.

long story short. Last Dec I was in a bad car accident. Broke my neck in three places and broke my leg in 3 as well. Enter oxycodone...90 mg per day. Soon to follow a nice opiate addiction. Im tired of the pills and talked to my doctor about suboxone. He agreed to start me on a 2mg per day dose for 7 days then a 1.75 mg per day dose for 7 days after that. We will see each other again in two weeks and determine the remainder of the taper schedule. Sounds good to me. Here's the problem: I pick up the pescription (13 sealed packages marked 8mg/2mg). I had no idea what the 8mg stood for but assumed the 2mg part of the labling was the 2mg of suboxone he was starting me out at. Before you all start laughing reading these posts has brought me to my senses. I'm higher than a kite now cause I took the whole i8mg strip. I have no idea why the doctor didn't just write me a prescription for a two week interval. My question is, when do I cut my 8mg strip into a quarter and take it next??? I'm not too keen on waiting till I have withdrawal symptoms. Did I screw this taper up?? What am I gonna do?? Help

yes Nalaxone may do this - suboxone should not.

i am not a big fan of Nalaxone .

I would ask - Are you taking subutex or suboxone?

No. Suboxone doesn't block anything but narcotics. It does not block any benzos.
The authorities frown on taking a benzo during treatment, it seems they say it's a lethal combo and it might be in certain cases but I've be taken short courses of Ativan with no untoward results.

Same here, I’ve been on klonopin and suboxone for about 7 years. No suboxone doesn’t block klonopin.
