The pill has no imprint at all, is a dark red color (almost maroon), and is 1cm wide. I have found a couple on the floor of my closet and have no idea what they are or where they came from.

I have the same question. I have someone taking several of these pills at one time along with a combination of other pills. I have no idea what this pill is and cant find it anywhere on the internet. It is a round/red speckled pill with no markings on it.

David Says:
Because this pill has no markings, it is going to be difficult to determine what this tablet contains, unless you would pay to have it lab tested, somewhere. If these are in fact prescription pills, It's highly unlikely that they are manufactured in the U.S, since there are no imprints. U.S. law requires that all prescription drugs have a unique imprint on the tablets or capsules so the medication can be identified by manufacturer, substance and dosage.

However, the way a pill looks is entirely up to the whit and whim of the company making it, so there are many, many pills on the market (outside of the U.S.), both over the counter and prescription that could meet that description.

Where did you (or your patient) obtain these pills from?

Unless this pill was obtained on the street, the only other thing I can suggest is that you try asking your local doctor or pharmacist for more information. You may have some luck searching foreign drug databases, but I can't be 100% sure on that.

Svlovesjv1 is correct the pill is called ferrous and it is an iron pill I am prescribed to it right now because I am pregnant. I am only suppose to take it twice daily so I'm not sure what happens if you consume more than that a day but I'm certain that your talking about the iron pill

This might also be a MetaboLife Extreme Energy pill. I just found some myself and couldn't figure out what they were. Being a man who gets plenty of iron from my diet, I knew they weren't the iron pills everyone else was claiming. Cutting the pill in half reveals a grey, grainy (like sand, but hard-packed) substance.

Forgot to mention, it was only after finding the bottle with more matching pills inside it that I figured out what these were.
