Hi everyone who is reading this message. I have been taking Risperidole for about 5 1/2 years now. I am currently taking 2mg of Risperidole and 100mg of Seroquel and 20mg of Lexapro. Can anybody tell me how I wean myself off the Risperidole As I want to have a baby and don't want to be on any medications that will affect the baby. I heard weaning off one medication at a time is the right way to go. Can anybody tell me, do I reduce the medication down to 1mg as I am on 2mg at the moment? Also how long should I be on the 1mg before reducing it down to 0.5mg? Thanks anyone for your input into my question, hope my question makes sense. Thanks again everyone.

Will Risperdal (Risperidone) help me sleep? I just got taken off of Seroquel cause it makes me impotent. ## Yes, it can cause drowsiness, and sedation as a side effect, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, mood swings, and dry mouth. My ex-husband was on it once and he actually couldn't stay awake, so he had to stop taking it. How has it been working for you?

My daughter is 47 and 3 years ago she had 2 strokes from complications after a major vascular surgery. The MRI done at the time also revealed she had already had 2 strokes before surgery. Her personality has changed so much from the strokes. She is very ill tempered, mean and hateful. It's affecting her entire family. She is aware of the change and will apologize, but very seldom. A clinical psychologist suggested the drug Respitrol. Maybe I got the spelling wrong, but from what I read, this is mainly for asthma. Should she see a neurologist or a mental health doctor? Thank you. Lou ## Hello, Lou! How are you? Is it possible that the doctor meant Risperdal? It is an antipsychotic that is used to treat various mental health issues. I was put on 20mg pulmison for 8 days two months ago. I am also on risperdal ,5 mg twice daily and 20 mg cipralex. I have never been put on cortisone until then. It was for a bad bout of bronchitis. I felt awful on it, insomnia, tense muscles etc. my bronchitis cleared up six weeks ago but I have never been so unwell in my life before. And it is continuing. I also had two sets of antibiotics at the time. Since stopping the cortisone I have body odour night sweats, dizziness, massive fatigue achy muscles and have not been able to function at all. I was told that I should wait 6 weeks post cortisone to feel better. Well I am now at 6 weeks and I don't feel better!!!! ## Hello, Lisa! How are you doing? Has there been any change? He been from the age of 5 years ## Risperdal contains the active ingredient Risperidone, so that would be the name that the generics are under in the U.S. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and somnolence. Does he have a bad reaction to this medication?

I'm 75 years old and when I was a kid a lot of guys got breasts as part of normal pubescent bodily changes. I developed sore and swollen breasts myself. Because time has passed and medication and hungry lawyers are rampant today; normal physical growth has become a source of income for those who hope we don't remember our childhood. Many of today's attorneys are contributing to the bad rep the law profession has and pushing to the limit the ethical limits of the bar. Ambulance chasing is too narrowly defined vis-a-vis the rules of Professional Conduct

After taking Resperadal for 9 days I suffered an episode where I lost the power to understand simple documents and had a weakness in my legs. With 30 minutes my speech was seriously affected, I stammered, repeated words and repeated nonsense sounds practically constantly. That was 10 days ago. Since then I have bout of loss of comprehsion, some weakness, but that has improved and my speech, which was getting better has today regressed to about Day 2. I also have episodes in the night were I wake up repeating nonsense sounds. Sometimes they stop when I wake up, sometimes they go on for minutes after I wake. Has anyone else suffered from these side-effects (this is what I was told these symptoms were). Anyone offer information on how long they last, anything that can help? Thanks! ## Hell...

My psychiatrist prescribed me 1mg of Ativan as well as 2 mg of Risperdal. Everything that I've read says you shouldnt take them together. I took my Risperdal about an hour ago but I'm having panic attacks. is it safe to take the ativan? ## I took those 2 medications together for about 8 months and never had any problems. I was also taking Lamictal and Lexapro at the same time. I hope this helps! ## @Amanda, I just wanted to add that according to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there aren't any discrepancies/interactions listed between Risperdal and Ativan. So based off that, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to take them together, unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. One thing to keep in mind though is that these medications do tend to af...

my son was recently prescribed resreridol he is 3 yrs old and we have been puting it in his milk to get him to take it is this okay will the milk effect the potency or absorbtion of this med? ## First my curiosity makes me wonder why a 3 year-old is on this? It hasn't been approved for use in children younger than 5, which means no testing has been done in younger children. As to taking it with milk, I'm not finding any problems listed about it, but I'd suggest checking with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. Was forced to take risperdal Consta injections for 5 months after an adverse reaction to prednisone. I have lost my ability to feel joy, love and happiness. I also have cognitive and memory difficulties. Apathy, fatigue and social anxiety are still lingering, even though I have been off the drug for 6 months. Prior to this "treatment" I had never been suicidal, now I pray for God to take me in my sleep. I have read dozens of message boards with countless people suffering from the same side effects, has ANYONE recovered after taking this poison? ## Hi Tracey, I'm very sorry to hear about the challenges you've been facing after taking Risperdal. don't take it will kill you or damage you It ruined my eye sight, blurred vision, tinnitus, headaches, falling over, dizzy all from 6 shots of this over 50 side effects and no cure for them ## Hello, Shane! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problems you've had. The FDA lists Risperdal as a very potent antipsychotic and such medications are well known to cause some problematic side effects, in some people that take them. Other side effects may also include nausea, dry mouth, weight gain and sedation. However, the issue with side effects is that they will wear off, they tend to improve over time, as your body gets used to a medication and will also go away, once you stop taking it, though it may take a few weeks. How long have you been off of it?

a drug for ADHD/Bipolar ## Rispidol is a scary drug that no one should take. They tried to push it on me for Depression. The doctors won't tell you the more severe side effects unless you lean on them, then they'll say it's rare. It made me feel like a zombie. More severe effects include: NEUROLEPTIC MALIGNANT SYNDROME which causes paralysis, seizure, and death: THERE IS NO KNOWN TREATMENT OR CURE. Also TARTIVE DYSCONESIA which causes uncontrolable twitching, especially of the face. Again , no known treatment or cure for T.D, it either goes away on it's own, or is PERMANENT !! My source is the PHYSICIANS DESK REFERENCE {2003]. ## Is this drug the same as Risperdal? ## Yes, they just spelled it wrong. ## Thanks. Please tell me if u take it what for your dose and how long for it to work please reply ## Hi Theresa, From what I can gather, Risperdal (Risperidone) is mainly used to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia, but is also prescribed for other types of behavior problems such as mania and aggression. As far as how long it takes to work, the manufacturer reports that it may take up to 2-3 months before you're able to feel the full benefits of taking Risperidone. So while that sounds to me like it would probably be a good time frame to assess how it's been affecting you, your doctor can also determine the duration of treatment you need based on the severity of your symptoms and condition. I hope this info helps!
