my daughter has been on risperdal for 7 years, dr wants her off it, so slowly doing this. But her withdrawell symptoms are hell, seeing snakes, and thinking there crawling on her, peeing her pants, chest pains, stomach pains. face breaking out in rash. Please dont put your kid on it, cant get mine of of it, dangerous. Had to take daughter to the er for a shot to calm her withdrawell symptoms. ## I'm so very sorry about what you're daughter is going through. How high of a dose was she taking? A medication like this must be stopped via a very slow taper to avoid withdrawal, and rebound effects, which also may include seizures, depression, diarrhea, and insomnia. How is she doing, now? I am going to be forced into taking a medication that causes suicidal side effects. What are the chances of getting suicidal side effects from Atypical or Antipsychotic medication? Has anyone ever gotten them? Unfortunately the other medications won’t help me and my mental health will be in jeopardy. Are there people out there that were able to take medication that had side effects that cause suicidal problems and are ok? I’m scared out of my trees. I won’t take it for this reason. I wanted to know if anyone in the forum is on 5mg of Risperdal or has a loved one that is. If so how has the drug worked for you or your loved on on 5mg? My 26 year old son is in a residential program he has been prescribed 2 mg in the morning and 3 mg at night. He's always tired and and I know that's a well known side effect. Hi, I am 25 years old and have just been prescribed risperdal For my severe auditory, visual, and tactile hallucinations from bipolar mania psychosis. For those who don't know it is a quite serious bacterial infection that causes profound physical fatigue, muscle pain, cognitive problems, and depression and derealization. I was prescribed Risperdal because I was having grandiose delusions. I was taking 3mg for about 6 months. To say the least it has been a rough 6 months. The drug changed everything about me, it is difficult for me to remember the dynamic person I used to be. Knowing that the delusion disorder was temporary as well as the treatment, I kept putting one foot in front of the other but it was and still is a challenge. I need to know what this is prescribed for? ## I believe you are referring to Risperodol, the generic is Risperdal. This is a very potent antipsychotic, it is also used for people who suffer from mental illness and have trouble sleeping due to racing thoughts. ## I am sorry to disapprove with this as i take it and it is more for people with depression as it is an anti depressant. ## Respiratol is being ordered for my sister-in-law as a mood changer. Well, I'm 17 and I'm an adolescent!! So I won't to make sure this medicine isn't for adults only. And I've been overemotional and sensitive all my life. Depression is very common in my family. I've never taken an anti-depressant before. My depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the part of my brain that controls my emotions and how I feel, which is made worse because I was born premature. My daughter is 7 years old and has been on Focalin 15 mg for almost a year, she has been taking it at 8 am and 2 pm and today the Doctor started a new schedule. She now has to take Focalin at 8 am and two new medications. She has to take Clonidine .1 mg either 1/4 or 1/2 at 4 pm and they said it will make her drowsy. The other medication is Risperdal 1mg but 1/2 a pill at night which also puts her to sleep.
