Reversed Reaction To Valium

Updated

I was to be prepped for Spinal Injections. This was the drug given. At the time I didn't know why I was AMPED to the max. Became apparent when I was given it again for a 'TEE' (TransEsophagealEchocardiogram). My Neurologist said I was having a "Reversed Reaction". I was given this drug again along with Versed for spinal cord stimulator trial implant. I've never been so jittery and hyper in my life! Like I'd taken a handful of Amphetamines!! Now they want me to have a Colonoscopy!!! I THINK NOT!!!

Unfortunately, that is a possible side effect of most medications, according to NIH studies. Some of them do cause the opposite of their intended effect in some people that take them. I have experienced it myself when taking Bupropion and my doctor warned me not to take it again.

However, there are others that they should be able to try, such as Xanax, or Klonopin, which may help you and not cause such issues.

How long did you reaction last and how are you doing now? In the future, it would likely be best to stay away from it.

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

I am not good, not good at all!!! 4-5 hours the reversed reactions lasted. The pain meds I was on started making me violently ill and this was only on 1/4 of a percocet. I'd been taking them since 11/2012. The new ones had bad reaction, pentazocine/naloxone (to put narcan in a pain med seems to be an oxymoron to me!). Then tramadol which did absolutely nothing for my pain!!! So I now have to wait for appointment 9/6/17 to see doc. Assistant said can't change opioid over phone I reminded her they did the tramadol on 8/17/17!! And it is classified as an opioid... She said "Ummmm not really" When I said it was an opioid. Assistant said... "Ummnot really.." my patient leaflet says opioid, all my research says opioid, synthetic though it may be!! Pharmacist agreed! ... A so I've been in extreme pain since before 8/17/17!!! Had spinal surgery in nov. 16, was on morphine before and after, until june. Then put back on percocet then in july started making me violently ill!!

So I have been in agony ever since!! In feb. My nephew missed 6 appointments with his prob. officer, he was working 12-16 hour days/nights (was for child support) so the cops came, I unlocked the door, they busted it in. I have an old house (200 yrs.) 300 yr. old heavy oak door and iron door handle! When kicked in, it hit me on my incision (had 1 spot where the surgeon had to rebuild vertebrae and this spot didn't want to heal!) blood started running down my butt and leg, I screamed at him that I'd just had surgery, he laughed and said..."Right, surgery crack wh***..." caught the other cop's eye and shut up!! I reeled around poked him in the chest and said..."Does this look like the body of a crack wh*** m'fer? (I'm 5'4" and 183lbs at the time) so I turned whipped my nightgown over my head full mooning them all (there were 10 cops) pointing at my spine - I said "What the hell do these railroad tracks look like m'fer!!" I now have a right sacroiliac joint that will pop out of joint and lie on top of my spine when I'm in bed, and I have to figure which way to move to pop it back in place!! Hurts like bloody hell. I'm alone, house locked up, no way to let ems in, so I must do it myself!! So I am in constant pain now.

In '91 I broke my neck, c 4-5, was rebuilt with cow bone. 1 month ago it sounded like my neck exploded!! Well a stiff neck, I mean I could not turn my head at freaking all. It came and went, mentioned it to my pain doc, didn't seem concerned. Now stiff neck is constant, wants to live here!! Numbness on both sides, both arms, left hand, 3 fingers, middle to pinky numb and hand spazzes up and claw-like and rotates to the inside, I scream in pain. The right side is totally numb and buzzing-like all the way down to my toes. Bad enough I have peripheral neuropathy in both legs, right is worse, no reflexes from knee down and hyper reflexes from knee up, dead areas down and around my calf and under my foot. I managed to get in to see my surgeon who did my spinal surgeon, he's concerned. Worried I have 1 or more ruptured discs in my neck. But no mri until I jump through ins. Hoops, x-rays (shows massive arthritis) and I must endure physical therapy, a visit to his nurse, then the mri!! P.T. Is excruciating!! And no pain meds to relieve my pain!!

I resist hospital visits because when all this started in 2012 they said I was a 'drug addict' seeking meds!! Ha ha!! All I wanted was for the pain to stop!! No x-rays at 1 hospital, the other did them. No mri, I had no ins. And they told me to my face, my mom as a witness "I wasn't worth it!!" both hospitals reported me to the state as a 'habitual drug abuser!! Ohio has an 'oars' law (whatever the hell that is)!! So I'm screwed!! I'm allowed 1 pain pill a day, when I have them. When I had the morphine I took the 1 with 2 tylenol, because in my research I found tylenol did help extend the length of time some meds work. And sometimes it helped the morphine work almost 24 hrs. I still have 4 morphine left from june, but I can't take them because I know I'll be given a U/A on the 6th when I go to my pain doctor!! He U/A's all his patients randomly. I just don't know how I'm going to get through to the 6th. I have p.T. That day as well. I am so screwed!!! So very screwed!!! So I am not good at all...And very pissed off!!!
