can tablets be cut in half

i have just started taking 2mg tablet today and it is causing diarreah can i cut it in half and try it (it is very expensive here in Australia). also if i can cut it in half will the leftover half that i will take the next day still be effective (how long before deterioration of the cut half)? thanks in advance ## Hello, Cj! If it isn't, then it should be safe for you to cut it in half, as long as your doctor approves, but you can't do that if it is a time released formulation of the medication.
