Wanted a generic for Diovan because the cost became prohibitive. Have not started the Losartan yet. What are the differences in these 2 pills, if any.

Both drugs are in the same class of medication. They are both ARB's (angiotensen II receptor blockers.) They just have slightly different chemical structures. A dose of Losartan 25mg is approximately equivalent to Diovan 40mg as far as dosing goes. It should work as well as Diovan in lowering your blood pressure. If it does not, Avapro (another ARB) is also available generically.

I'm taking Diovan 160MG and Losartan 100mg together. My blood pressure is high. Is it because I'm taking both of these meds daily?
