Reformulated Oxycontin Op (Page 2)

Updated

I was receiving Oxycontin 80mg OC, but then they changed it to the reformulated Oxycontin 80mg OP. I never had a problem with the old version BUT now i get right side cramping. Is this because new version is not made properly?

@ jojo, That's because you're not getting high anymore and going through withdrawals. The reason you felt good on oc was because you were high as a kite.

I'm having chest & stomach issues after taking the op formulation. I'm very worried also about what is in this medication. I'm even more worried that my pharmacy does not inform me that I'm taking something different.Especially w/all my allergies.Filing complaint w/perdue & changing meds.

Lets face it. According to the DEA no one needs this medication, they are no thinking of the human side of this problem Doctors, paitents and phamacists are the guys on the front lines dealing with this not the. They see everyone as a criminal and only don't know yet what people have done...so we have to pay the price for the junkies and abusers. All our complaining will go unheeded and in fact will show they did the right thing by seeing all the junkies complaining they took their toy away. they will take it as a job well done...until they need medication then they will swtich sides..I have seen it with doctors who had no compassion then all of a sudden they changed whrn they themselves became ill..

I just had surgical reconstruction to my left arm and was given oxycodone HCL 5mg as a means to manage pain. They honestly cause more pain than they relieve, and although I'm now pain free, I basically had to revert to asprin and trying to ignore some very substantial pain. I would reccomend to anyone that's prescribed this prescription- Do NOT get it filled!

We shall see what happens I suffer enough from RA, and P.A along with O.A and several surgeries & a head injury. I do not need any problems from meds. Purdue & the government made a mess out this. I'm switching my meds & filing my all complaints.

EB Says he just had arm surgery and was given 5mg Oxycodone. I would check what they gave you because 5mg Oxycodone was taken off the market, you might taken something else. Im sorry you had a problem

I do not receive the same pain relief from the new op STAMPED OXY'S. as I did with the original OC Stamoed version. I have also noticed that at timed they make their way through the body undigested. To me this seems to point to the fact that they are not properly breaking down in my system. I do take prolocec for GERD and I wonder if the facct that prilosec reduces the amount of stomach acid would this cause the pill not to properly break down in the stomach? I had no warning that there would be a change in the formulation but I do plan to talk to my doctor and see if he will change me to the IR instead of the ER and see if this will help me better. I do notnor have I ever abused my meds but I feel like we are all test subjects for this new formulation. I am sure that Perdue is getting plenty of complaints from this but are we all dumb enough to believe that they will ever change back to the original formula. Does anyone remember when Coca cola changed their original formula? They said that they changed back to the original formula after a multitude of complaints but you know...they never did get the original formula back on the shelves.

I am also one of the many that are being effected by this change. I spoke to my doctor and he told me he heard from other patients but not complaining about the strenght just that it takes so long to work. Well for me its also not as strong I find myself needing more because I actually started to get withdraw symtoms. I have not been able to function for a week, its been the worst. I do not want to go to the next strength so we are going to try opana and I pray that will work. I am so tired of dealing with this problem. Its just not right. People that need these pills are being hurt because of the drug abusers. If I would go back in time I would never have started this medication and found another way to cope with the pain, its horrible to go thru all this every month. What can we do? Who do we complain to? We need to stop this!!!! So if anymore knows who to write to lets do it. Lets post that info and maybe it will do some good... Thank you and you are all in my thoughts...

Medication change - Recently I was told one option for the ER pain med will be a new medication of sorts..It is a time released form of Hydrocodone. I am not famialr with tis medication yet related to proper dosage however i was told it was made by laser drilling holes in the tablets to allow time release of Hydrocordone. The only problem I envision is how good of a job it will do. Since each pain med hots different dopimine recpters we will see how this one does compared to Oxycontin ER. I think the game pharma has played related to buying the other companies then removing products from development should be looked at from an anti-trust viewpoint. They are controling the only time released oxycodone while at the same time the price and development of futher products doesn't make sense to allow themto do so..I wonder who allowed this??

i agree, OP does NOT work. I usually take one and the pain is gone within 30 minutes, but i took 2 of the OP, instead of the OC, and i still have pain as if I didn't take any, plus what seems like abdominal cramps... I am calling the pharmacy to try to return them in the morning & HOPE EVERYONE DOES THE SAME?

I'm giving an update to my statement . This new med is not good for you I have been thru hell trying to take this while awaiting my appt. w/my doc. It does cause severe cramping and many other problems.I would wake up w/vomit in my mouth very lucky i did not choke. It was causing issues w/ my acid refelux. Sat night i woke up very sick could barely walk hard time finding my words & have been in bed since then. Until today I'm to go to my doc & give him this bottle or ask do I take back to pharamacy . I will never put another tablet of this poison on my body.I have been on this medicine for 12 yrs. and always worked so very well.I have never abused my meds I have always taken them as directed by dr. I have to many health problems to be taking something that makes me even more ill. I do believe they are enteracting w/my RA & PA injections. If only I had been told when I picked them up so i had the choice to take them or not. I have always had many adverse reactions I have to be careful what a take. Then I would of never been so ill my body can't take it having all my health issues. Purdue can take this medicine & shove it. It saddens me we live where they take away something that can be abuse that helps so many but they leave ciggearettes & alcohol & many other things. My question is if this was such a concern take it of the market don't hand out poison to folks at least that would give us a choice of what to do next this is a bunch money B.S. going on at our health expense.

I have had stomach upset from the new formula also. The old oxycontin was a powder based tablet that dissolved in the stomach fairly quickly but the new formulation is a powder and gelatin combination which takes longer to dissolve and can cause stomach upset and cramping. I have a permanently damaged spinal cord and taking oxycontin doesn't get me high . It just makes the pain stop.

I also have a concern that the new oxycontin formulation might not be as effective because the gelatin type binder might not allow the opiates to be fully released making the new pill less effective. For severe pain patients that is a concern.
