Ramipril Side Effects

i have been on 12.5mg of ramipril each day for the past 2 and half years. We have now got a new doctor in our practice and he says that it is a too high dosage for me and now has put me on 10mg of ramipril and 5mg of amlodipine. Could the high dosage of rampipril caused anything to me, i have my blood pressure checked every three months and bloods done every six months or can it do anything to me in the future.

That's actually not a really high dosage, it can go up to 20mgs a day for hypertension.

Why did he feel it was too high of a dose, were your blood pressure readings low, while you were taking it?

Next question, why is it only being checked every 3 months? Are you checking it yourself, at home?

I have not had a bowel movement in almost 4 months. Have had every test known to man and nothing. Last week was my last one, barium enema and everything was fine. No cancer, tumors, polyps etc. etc. I am now checking my only 2 RX... Metoprolol Tartrate 25mg as well as the Ramipril 2.5mg. Does Ramipril 2.5 mg (Altace) cause constipation?

Now ramipril 1.25mg as my bp is 160/80
