Pur Bloka Alternatives

Updated

Can Pur-Bloka or it's generic be bought over the counter? What alternatives are there to Pur-Bloka? I'm using it once a day for mild nervousness.

Pur-Bloka contains the active ingredient Propranolol, it is a beta blocker, which is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac related conditions.

Thus, I am not sure how it is supposed to help with nervousness of any type.

In the U.S. and other countries that regulate their medications, it is only available by prescription. I don't know where you are located, so I have no way of knowing if the same is true for you, or not.

Can you post back with your location?

In South Africa it is used to treat Anxiety, you do need a perscription. I have Bi-polar type 2. I get very nervous in front of people and my neck and face blush, my cheecks used to go red and becone hot and my hands used to shak but not any more I am allowed to take 40mg 3 times a day. Hope this helps.

I take Pur-Bloka 40Mg three times a day for headache control here in South Africa. Without it I suffer from night-time temperature surges and daily headaches. But since January 2015 I have not been able to get any supply of Pur-Bloka anymore. Aspen the company that makes it in South Africa say that it will only be available again at the end of March 2015. I have tried Inderal but it does not have the same effect on me as Pur-Bloka had. Does anybody have any more information on this situation? I have tried to call Aspen with no luck.

Pur-Bloka is the generic form. The commercial form is called Inderal. You may be able to get that. The base drug is called Propranalol. Other forms you can look for (But very rare in SA) Adco-Propranolol® AI Generics; Cardispare® Rolab; Nolol® Compu; Prodorol® Be-Tabs; Pur- Bloka® Lennon; Rexigen® Pharmador.

Hi FWJ: You should definitely speak to your doctor about this, but in the short term you can try using Licorice, energy drinks, and Male supplements like Vascamen which can all increase your heart rate.

Good day,

I would like to know why 10 mg purblocka is no longer available? I have been struggling with 40 mg for about 7 months now. The 40mg never breaks in half properly even with a gadget. It does not taste good either.

Inderal is the brand product, Purbloka is the generic. The active ingredient in both products is identical. Anyone who says that Inderal doesnt work as Purbloka is definitely suffering from the placebo effect

I have to take 2 x 40 Purbloka daily and it is an ongoing problem with the supplier. Indarel does not work for me. Indoblok does work even though not as well as the Purbloka. I'm going to see my dr for an alternative..I believe the next best is Tenbloka...its frustrating and worrying at the same time.

Is Pur-Bloka considered a beta blocker? What is the difference between the pur bloka and a beta blocker, and how long does it take to work in the body?
