Prozac Users Please Respond

Are there any prozac users with a good response? Please let me know. I have tried so many meds for my severe anxiety depression fears paranoia anhedonia and medical related PTSD. Looking for success stories, please. I started at 20mg for 2 1/2 weeks, now on 40 for four days and no relief. Please help.

Hello, Theresa! How are you?

With Prozac, it actually takes about a month, before it starts having much of an effect and it can be as long as 3 months, before it reaches its full efficacy level in your body.

What else are you taking? Have you considered taking more than one medication, at a time?

From some of your posts, I've gotten the impression that you're treatment resistant and, in such cases, multiple medications are often needed.

I've taken numerous meds for depression/PTSD: Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Doxepin, Imipramine, Wellbutrin, Pristiq, Effexor ... my old psych doc would basically try every new med on the market out on me as soon as it became available.

Now I'm on a combo of Prozac (60mg/day) and Wellbutrin-SR (400mg total/day). This combination has proven to be effective. I was fortunate; it didn't take a month for the meds to begin working. In fact, when my doctor added the Wellbutrin SR, I felt the effects from the second day of use on. The SSRI family (Prozac, Zoloft, etc) are very effective for PTSD. Wellbutrin is a great augmentation to Prozac therapy. However, I didn't find Abilify to be very effective as an add-on depression med (side effects with no significant mood improvement.) Yes: Prozac works.

I have been on Prozac for about 3 years now. it does taken about 4 weeks to kick in and you will feel so much better by then. it was the best thing I ever did was speaking to my doctor and getting medical help. I also got therepy.

I been taking Prozac for 25 years started at 41. it helps but after about 16 years, I blame it for making me unable to have intercourse with my wife. Just recently I started taking 20mg every other day and eventually none. I am 66 so what does it matter.

I was taking Prozac and my liver felt really bad. I was losing sense of reality just for a flack of the second (could cross the road on my green when the red light was on). Stop my meds. Taking kratom and it fixed all my problem.

I take prozac in the day and seroquil at night. I can feel like a zombie a bit in the am's but considering how my symptoms have been.... I was having severe mood swings. Long crying jags and that was with prozac in the daytime. I was staying up 24-48 hours unwillingly. Angry and then self destructive. The prozac helped my daytime issues but by late afternoon the anxiety started becoming worse and the nights were awful. I could not sleep. my brain was non stop. Seroquil helps me sleep all night and keeps me calm most of the day and Prozac does its job as well. In case you didn't gues, I'm just a tad bi'polar and finally got diagnosed. I'm grateful for my doctor listening to me and giving me medicines that keep me level, help me keep my job and my family.

I received Prozac that are in red capsules and have nothing written on them. Has anyone gotten red 20 mg caps from combitic global? I've never seen them in this color. I also do not see an imprint on them.

I have been on Prozac for 28 years, it has saved my life! Im afraid to go off it because I suffer from such bad depression. Im just done with these extreme hotflashes!
