Can Promethazine cause a positive drug result for Marijuana Metabolites?

To answer your question, yes, Promethazine does reportedly cause a false positive for THC. On the cheaper, less reliable tests, it seems anything is possible. Based on what I've heard, false positives are known to occur on them anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time.

Have you tried to dispute this false positive?

This was a test (that I knew I would have to take) given at my Jr. College (Navarro, TX). I had my gall bladder removed on 5/29 and have always had problems with nausea and surgeries (anesthesia) so I took all of the prescription. I took a pill at 7:30 A.M. on the day of the test, 6/6. I pulled up what I could from the internet to present in my appeal, but the college simply had me talk to a Medical Review Officer and after that, he sent a certified copy of the results and that was a conclusion for the college that I must have used Marijuana. Where are you getting your information from? Sorry this is so late in getting back to you. I have my doctor writing his thoughts in hopes of clearing my name and trying to get all my tuition back, but he was not necessarily an expert either (to his own admission).

Yes, on a drug test given for my EMT class. I knew I would have to be tested in April. I had gall bladder surgery on 5/29 and was on Promethazine from the time of surgery until after the drug test (6/6) which was 6/8. Where are you getting your information from?
