Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

I recently started on the prolia shots last year. My Dr's reason was because I was having bone fractures in my feet for no reason, (just walking and I had 3 in one foot and 1 in the other.) I do have osteoporosis. With the first shot I did'nt notice any side effects but now after the 2nd shot there are several things happening in my body that was not there before. First, I just found out I have a hiatal hernia, but more bothersome is the insane itching all over my body and flaky scaly skin with wierd red spots. I have been to the derm Dr. with being told he basically didn't know (hmmm) then to my other 2 drs. who did blood work. While waiting for that I read a magazine and noticed a article about the prolia shot and that is where I read about the skin issues. I had forgotten reading about that when I had the first shot. Is there an alternative shot that may work? I don't plan on getting another shot. I'm still waiting on a reply from my Dr's to see what they think. Thank you

Hi Darlene: I had my blood work done with my rheumatologist and he said that I now have Osteoarthritis, OP and Fibromyalgia. I am in constant pain. The first set of blood tests showed that I had copper in my system but the second one appeared to be o.k. I asked him what he was looking for and he said Wilison's disease. Does anyone know if Prolia causes you to have copper in your system. Just had more tests done and now my blood sugar is 3.1 and it should be 3.6 - 6.9. There is no diebetes in my family so I don't know what is going on. I just had a second blood test done on Monday don't know the results yet. Irene

I recently posted a comment about the prolia and after reading some of the other side effects listed below on other post I'm convinced it is the prolia. I went to my pc doctor because of the itching and red spots creaping up all over my arms and legs and was also experiencing uti symptoms. He checked for that and saw blood in the urine but no bacteria. The next morning I was going to the bathroom and it was solid blood and clots!. Lower back pain and foot pain started and I was back to the orthopaedic office because I thought my feet were starting to fracture again.I still had not heard from the Dr. that gave me the injection, 4 calls to the office and am very frustrated. I did call and cancel my appt. for the next shot and then finally a msg from the Dr. but will have to wait till Monday to talk to him. I will definetly post the comments he made about the shot and maybe it will shed some light on this drug. Do I want to have more fractures? NO definetly not but I also do not want to spend the rest of my life feeling like I do now.. My blood work came back ok except for the blood calcium (one symptom is low calcium levels) mine is high and always has been because of my sarcordosis so at least that is one thing that has stayed normal, (at least in my case). good luck to all and I hope you all find solutions to your health. Pam

• Reluctant to take it but under advisement of my GP, bone specialist, and the Prolia help line, paid for and took the shot Nov. 8, 2011
• The effect has been devastating and shows no sign of abatement after 14 months.
• Four days after the shot I experienced extreme discomfort, swelling of my legs and ankles, ache and stiffness in my legs, feet and back, fatigue, and lack of balance.
• Have lost my mobility almost completely and am in pain whenever I move.
• Shortly thereafter further problems which now include frequent urination, nausea, tingling in my feet and legs, and continued swelling and redness in my feet and ankles.
• Described my problems to the Prolia promotion people when they called and asked them to relay the message to Health Canada. Not likely reported since they called at the six month mark to tell me it was time for the second shot.
• When I said I would not even consider taking another shot, they have not called back

Hi Marlory
I feel for you, I had my last 3rd shot in September 2011 which is now almost 16 months ago. unfortunately I'm still suffering from side effects. Pain in al joints most of the time, however i finally see the occasional day with less pain. Walking long distances is still not there, 10-15 minutes walks and that is it. Also still taking Endocet 3 times a day.
Good luck to all

It has been four months. My life changed after the Prolia shot. I experienced severe pain in muscles and bones. I break out in sweat and feel achy and weak. I have had a relapse of Epstein Barr Virus. My heart began racing out of control. My body itched all over. I experienced digestive problems. The symptoms have been debilitating....I went from fairly healthy to almost bedridden for the last four months. All of a sudden I am very allergic to Zantac which I could take before the shot. I realize some may not experience side effects; however, Prolia is worse than poison to others. Keep contacting the FDA. This drug has too many serious side effects. PLEASE, if you are considering this shot, read the real research, not that which the Prolia drug manufacturers conducted. Read about what is happening to those of us who are having reactions. After four months, I experience less bone pain and digestive problems, but I still have an immune system that is greatly compromised, sweats, and a very poor quality of life. I cannot believe this is on the market. Keep up the efforts to keep the FDA informed.

I just got off of the phone with a rep of the FDA about the Prolia shot and its side effects that we are all experiencing. Not very impressed with her lack of interest. very generic response about deciding whether the benefits outway the risks of any meds we are considering. offered a form to report the side effects to the FDA and let me know that they are all read and evaluated by a panel. I told her about this website and how many there are out there effected by this drug with many many of the SAME side effects and with that there DOES need to be a PANEL looking at this DRUG to see if THEY think the benefits out way the risks. We all need to hop on the bandwagon and let them know about all of our medical issues so that they may indeed do that. Good luck everyone and feel better. I'm in my 3rd month with the same side effects and see no light at the end of the tunnel for relief......:( Pam

Just read on for all the bad side effects..There are MANY!...I have a Question of all of you: Does anyone knwo about any bone marrow problems with Prolia.?.My wife, after 10 months of hell wit her Prolia shot has now been diagnosed with MDS, a severe blood disorder which used to be called pre-leukemia..some say it's cancerous..I
It is a disease where the bone marrow is defective and can't produce enough blood cells anymore...Often fatal and is progressive..She was fine until two weeks after she had her Prolia shot.Coincidence??..I don't think so...!

It has been 5 months since my Prolia shot. I am now bed ridden most of the time. Seems my immune system cannot fight off Epstein Barr Virus which hit after I became ill from the Prolia shot. I have been on bed rest for almost 5 months. I have been told more bed rest, fluids and supportive care. The drug companies should be sued for this. The FDA should be more responsive. So what if some people do ok with the shot. It is NOT right for some of us to have these horrific side effects.

As I posted earlier this month, we all need to call the FDA for the form to let them know about this awful drug and its side effects. My itching has gotten worse in the last few days and I am unable to sleep through the night because of it. My Dr. assured me that it takes up to 6 months for the drugh to leave the body and from what I'm reading it is varied for each of us. I'm going into my 4th month now... Feel better Pam

I'm not so sure if this will get out of your system in 6 months. I have had 3 shots and the last one is now over 18 months ago.
Still suffering al kinds of side effects, joint pain, sweating, etc. I have reported to Health Canada and the FDA.
Never received an answer or acknowledgement.

The gal I spoke with had the personality of a crow bar and acted like she could care less, go figure. Nice people working for the FDA! Maybe if one of her family members was suffering with similar symptoms she would be a little more compasionate......I know for one thing I'm done with that shot...

I have osteoporosis and osteoparthritis. Fosamax caused problems with my esophogas. I had Prolia in Sep 2011 and have back and hip pain, but attributed it to my arthritis which is very bad. i have been walking with a cane. After 6 months, the Prolia was still working on me and I did not have a second shot. In Sep 2012 I had my second shot and my pain is even worse. I can't take pain meds. I can barely walk or get in and out of my car. My rheumatologist prescribed physical therapy . I had 3 sessions and all 3 times I hurt worse than ever.
Can't sleep thru the nite, need help getting into bed and can't sit too long in one spot. I have a call I to my doctor and hope to get a callback Monday. Be sure to research the drug because the pain is intolerable.

Yes, I burned the roof of my mouth on something hot and it took around 5 days to heal. Normal time ...one day.

After 2 injections of Prolia I found myself unable to walk. An MRI showed there were 3 atress fractures in my right hip. My doctor said things would have been worse without the Prolia. Stupid me; I trusted him and had 2 more injections. Two months after the 4th x-rays showed stress fractures of the right side of my pelvis. Now I have cellulites, a red rash on the lower parts of my legs that is caused by bacteria getting under the skin. Research found that this is a side effect of Prolia. Finally, my cataracts are growing; another side effect.

Dear Alexis or who ever you are.
This is about the 3rd or 4rd identical statement you have made on this web site. It's obvious to all of us sufferers that you probably are a company representative. So please stop making useless statements. Maybe you have noticed that all commercials have been pulled from TV. Must be a reason for this.
