Prolia Side Effects (Page 144)

Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Re: Karen Wadman (# 2860) Expand Referenced Message

You are so right. I just came back from my respirologist and was advise my asthma which has been stable for 10 years until my one and only Prolia injection on Mar 7/19 now is very serious. They called it epithelial asthma. I now have to have more tests and a more potent inhaler. I cannot use it as now going into my 5th month post injection and still having adverse effects. The respirologist dies not want me to start anything new as not sure how I will react. I can’t find a lawyer yet as I have been told I am not disabled enough. They only want those big cases in Toronto, Ontario Canada but I can tell you I will not stop until I make this public. It has ruined my normal living for the last 6 months and it was not a walk in the park with Fosamax. I have a medical background and just wait and see where I go with this.

Today I read in Save Our Bones that the European equivalent of the FDA rejected Amgen’s new Osteoporosis drug Eventy. The drug was declared unsafe due to its risk of cardiovascular event. Note: our FDA approved this drug in 2018

I hope you keep on keeping on... it is really hard to generate any kind of action unless multiple people have horribly debilitating problems...ruining one life just does not seem to be enough to cause concern.

Re: Lizzie (# 2863) Expand Referenced Message

It may be possible in Canada, I wish you success. Here in the U.S. it is virtually impossible. A class-action suit against the maker of Fosamax was thrown out at the Supreme Court level; see my post about Europe not approving Evenity because it is dangerous, meanwhile our FDA approved the drug last year. Buyer Beware!

Re: Sal (# 2840) Expand Referenced Message

Hi. I'm from the UK and my consultant has suggested that I take this drug. The main reason was because my latest DXA scan showed reduction in bone in my left hip. After looking this drug up I find it does nothing for bone loss in the hip. Why does this drug continually be prescribed? I thank you all for sharing your experience of this poison.

Re: Linda (# 2865) Expand Referenced Message

You are quite right to question. The reason is lengthy. In the U.S. healthcare is on the capitalist model, so there is quite a lot of money to be made, mostly to the pharmaceutical companies. In addition, physicians continue to believe the drug companies and disbelief of patient complaints of side effects (because they are downplayed by the companies). There are more natural methods of improving bone health such as diet and exercise. Check out Save our Bones and Better Bones Blog. Good health to you!

Don’t forget Save our Bones, that one is especially informative, not only about diet and exercise, but the latest research and the latest news about Big Pharma. If you live in or near New York City there is a Physiatrist ( that is Physical Medicine and Rehabilatation
who has developed a program of particular Yoga poses for Osteoporosis, his name is
Dr. Fishman on east 58th st. Best wishes

Re: Sal (# 2868) Expand Referenced Message

I ride my bike every night for 45 minutes around the neighborhood. I do my own housework, shopping and cooking. I feel like since the Prolia shots that I received over a year ago, my bones are aching more and I have a hard time on my bike if it is at all windy. The growths on ends of my fingers are very painful and ugly. I also have a large lump on my forearm. I am going to look into having them removed as they bother me. Two doctors have seen them and did not enter any opinion other than to have the Reclass regime which I refused!

Re: Karen (# 2870) Expand Referenced Message

Congratulations on refusing. I too have growths on my fingers and toes thanks to Prolia. There are specific exercises that build bone. For me, I use DVD’s that I hav3 had for years of TTAPP which I alternate with DVD’sof Miranda Esmonde White. I know there are other exercises out there. In my case my thoracic spine is especially brittle and I have had fractures there so I especially need exercises for that area. Good health.

I have had two injections and will not have a third. Nausea, vertigo, headache after the second shot is still with me going on two months after the infusion. This drug has destroyed my quality of life. Worse medical decision I ever made.

You are not alone, all of us on this site regret our decision to take this drug, so don’t beat yourself up. Unfortunately it takes time for Prolia to clear the body. Wishing you good health.

I found a few products that are turning around the side effects from Prolia in my mouth. I can let you know what they are, if you are interested. However, the feeling like I am walking on a cruise ship persists along with feeling like a wind going through me. My mouth cannot completely grow back the second layer of skin it needs, I think because I can't get Prolia all the way out of me. It has somehow changed my body chemistry. Amgen is lying to people saying it eventually leaves the body. Even doing saunas and taking really good supplements for over a year now, I am making only minor progress since I took myself off Prolia after my fourth shot. I got so bad that in June I thought I would die from how horrible my mouth felt. Now at least(thanks to two products I am taking) I am feeling better in my mouth. But these products are not cheap, and it's unfair that I may have to use them indefinitely just so that my mouth does not feel horrible every minute of the day. Are there any scientists out there who can tell me if body chemistry can be "changed back" to normal from this hideous drug? Truly, I feel like Prolia changed my body chemistry, and yet I can find nowhere on the internet anything that describes my specific symptoms or anything about body chemistry related to Prolia.

I was very interested to hear you were having problems with your mouth. I, too, after 3 injections have terrible mouth problems. I have been off prolia for 3 years now and am still seeing an oral specialist( at great cost, I may add) . So far there has been nothing that really helps. I am in Canada so whatever you are using may not be available here. I would be very interested in what has helped you. I see the oral specialist again mid- September and I could mention to her what has helped you. I still have one prescription given to me which I haven’t tried yet. I’m having a few intestinal problems so am hesitant to try it until things settle down.

Re: Judy (# 2875) Expand Referenced Message

It's very sad to know that even three years off is not helping you. Crap! What exactly is your mouth problem? Well, I prayed like heck for an answer to all this. Doctors can't seem to help me. All of a sudden someone introduced me to ASEA. (go view it on youtube) It regenerates good cells and kicks out bad ones. I feel that it was kicking Prolia out of me finally, but I am now feeling at a standstill and wondering if it can go farther and get it all out for good. My mouth effect is that the outer layer of skin for my mouth and lips has vanished. The ASEA is growing it back. (not my lip skin yet, but the outer layer on the inside of my mouth's skin). Nobody can tell I have a problem, but to ME, it feels horrible, that nasty taste always in my mouth, and the feeling of "air" circulating inside my mouth and seeming to go up my right ear canal. I had a spinning sensation inside my body and could feel the skin on my chest, etc with a weird feeling of air on it. I can't even explain it. I feel like an ALIEN.Also when i walk, it's like i am walking on a cruise ship. Anyway, I was getting saliva always coming on too strong, and was having to wear a mouthguard so I did not have to taste it. It was so embarrassing going out in public. I hate always thinking about my mouth constantly because I am constantly having to swallow extra nasty tasting saliva and feel the weird air sensation in my mouth.(today, not so bad with ASEA. I only have the problem more toward evening.) I don't know if anyone else on the planet feels this way like me. ASEA can be ordered anywhere in the world. But it costs $150 a month for morning/night treatments. Also I purchased Coseva, to get toxins out of the body. It may be helping me too. I've been a month on both products ued together. I feel "half better" . if I can drive prolia totally out of me, I know I can be 100% again. You can google Coseva. It's a spray that can remove heavy metals and pesticides, etc from the body. but what IS prolia anyway?? Can it even be driven out if it has changed one's body???

Re: Sal (# 2873) Expand Referenced Message

It takes time? Or does it take a century? Sorry, but it feels like it "becomes" part of one's body!!
I can't believe this drug is still being used and that people are not reading what we say and becoming very worried to ever start using it!! Why can't we all get together and find a law firm to represent us? It's very costly trying to feel better when stuck with the effects!

Re: Andrea (# 2877) Expand Referenced Message

The drug , I am told take about 8 mos. to clear the body. Most of the side effects take longer and I think that is an individual thing. Since the drug affected my Thyroid it was a matter of managing that. After 2years I went Gluten free, and that was the answer. Perhaps that will help you . However the side effects like joint damage to my wrists, fingers, ankles and toes is permanent. I have been told that it is “ Just Osteoarthritis “.
I don’t doubt that I had Osteoarthritis, but to go from no symptoms to severe pain and enlarged, disfigured joints in less than a year . It seems to me that a Prolia exacerbated that process. As far as a lawsuit, that depends on where you live. Here in the U.S. that probably never happen. There was recently a class action suit against the Fosamax
That went all the way to the Supreme Court where it was dismissed in favor of the manufacturer. Just like in the Opiod epidemic, Dr.’s seem to believe the drug companies over their patients. I have noticed in the Prolia ads that they do list more side effects, but still people are swayed and scared , like I allowed myself to be, into taking this. All we can do is spread the word and educate others.

Prolia is poison, it can be deadly. It has been a nightmare for me and I wish I had never taken the first shot, not trusted my doctor and done research for every having this poison injected into my body. The FDA does not care, as long as money is involved. As I said, A DEADLY POISON DRUG!!!

I now have a new problem starting up. I have been having a problem with my hair falling out for the past 4 years after my first Prolia shot. A doctor told me it was just old age. Now I am having a problem with psoriasis on the scalp, on the back of my head. It is making me crazy. What next?
