Prolia Side Effects (Page 136)

Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Re: Lois (# 2700) Expand Referenced Message

My last shot was Jan '17. I still experience side effects, especially related to Thyroid.

Same here.... I have suffered as you wouldn't believe since I received that Prolia shot on March 30, 2017... I had severe autoimmune responses to this biological poison. Let's not forget that Prolia "plays" with the immune system in order to allow the recycling of otherwise "disposable" bone back onto our healthy bones.... (causing ridiculous fractures if we stop using Prolia, or if we use it for too long....).... In my case, I developed Graves disease.... and what is worse, I also developed TED (Thyroid Eye Disease)... I will have to receive radiotherapy around the eye orbits in order to stop the compression of the optical nerve....Which was causing severe visual loss.... I have suffered a year and 9 months for the one and only injection of this monoclonal antibody derived from the ovaries of some hamsters in China.... Was I ever told this. Never. Has my Dr. at least hinted at the possibility that I am right when I affirm that this happened 4 days after the one and only injection and I have been sick since.... No. He insists it is not Prolia.... I can't wait for a legal case on this horrible poison.

I took 2 shots, then no more. The side effects were unbearable. In addition, my previously stabilized hypothyroidism has been unstable ever since. I also believe that Prolia negatively affected me autoimmune wise. This is a highly toxic drug.

Re: Lois (# 2700) Expand Referenced Message

I had about 7 shots and had side effects almost immediately but my GP said that my aching jaw was neuralgia so I allowed him to give me more. We changed medicos twice more and when I said i wanted to stop, the response was always 'Do you want to suffer a hip fracture?' It has been over a year since my last shot and I still have an aching jaw, sore thigh bones and peripheral neuropathy which is really bad at night. I don't think I will ever be free of the damage. Also, I have never had thyroid problems but for over a year now it has been discovered that I have hypothyroidism which may or may not have been present earlier.

Re: Marion (# 2704) Expand Referenced Message

I could bet it was the Prolia injection that caused your thyroid disorder... It happened to me at 61.... I never had any thyroid problem before. Prolia causes autoimmune disorders because in trying to recycle the "bad" bone back onto our healthy bones (even if our bones are less dense than we would like) it "plays" with the T cells in the immune system in order to let them bypass the natural processes....and allow the recycling of this disposable bone back onto our bones.... No wonder spontaneous fractures occur after several injections....Because the bad bone eventually breaks, no matter how dense it may seem to be when they do a densitometry.... Spontaneous femur fractures happen because of Prolia....and the femur is a bone that usually breaks in a very serious type of situation....such as a car accident....

Was told i needed Prolia, nothing else would work. Did some research and have decided the risks are worse than the osteoporosis-associated risks. I'll exercise and change diet, stop smoking and lower caffeine intake. Hope it works out.

Re: JP (# 2706) Expand Referenced Message

I pray that you decide not to get it. I've suffered so much for nearly two years since I had the one and only injection that totally upset my immune system (causing numerous health issues, among others Graves`disease, dermatological problems, cholesterol imbalance that I never had, TED -thyroid eye disease causing nearly blindness, etc.), that the only thing that gives me peace is the feeling that my experience is helping others. Knowing that I have spread the word about the risks and knowing that some of my friends have not done it only because I am the living proof that the risks are bigger than the benefits..., makes me feel a lot better... then my suffering has not been in vain.

Bravo!!!

Although I should have known better, I took Prolia, and have regretted it ever since that day 2 years ago.

I, too, am still suffering 2 years after my last inj. My mouth sores have never gone away and at the moment have flared terribly. No one seems to have an answer for me or how to relieve the constant stinging feeling. I only wish I could turn the clock back and have said NO to the doctor who told me it was the only answer for my “fragile” bones! At 77 my bone density has not become any worse than it was before the inj's (I had 3). For that matter, the inj's never made it any better. I continue to spread that word to anyone I talk to that they not take this drug and refer them to medschat so they can read the many responses people have written of their experiences with prolia.

So many of us have the same symptoms. Lasting damages to our bodies. I am angry.

What is so frustrating is that we have no power against the "Big Boys".

All I can do is spread the word. Anytime I hear of someone taking Prolia, I urge them to search this site.

I wish I hadn't let my emotions rule my mind and accept what I was told by a Dr. in whom I had faith and trust. Truthfully, I doubt he meant harm, he accepted the word of the drug company.

Shirley (# 2710) --

Hi Shirley, I experienced afib after my first jab and terrible hives after my second one. My consultant decided not to give me any more. I hope you find other ways to strengthen your bones.

Hi, Prolia can be very bad for your teeth, I was informed of this by my dentist. Also, there are a number of post on these sites of people actually loosing their teeth and severe gums problems. As for me personally, the drug has been a nightmare. I tell everyone, it should be named Prolia poison, I suffered most of the horrible side effects, and was not told of them before taking the drug. As I said, it is a horrible drug and the FDA needs to take it off the market. I hope this helps you and others, hopefully not to suffer as I have from the injections of Prolia. I will never take it again.

Re: Judy (# 2709) Expand Referenced Message

It is really discouraging that no one in the medical profession will listen to the people who have had these experiences... our numbers are growing and there are many more people who experience the negative consequences of this drug but do not have a vehicle to voice their misery. Our doctors must think we are either hypochondriacs (sp?) or dismiss our problems as coincidence in that they occur after a Prolia injection. This website is a strong voice within our small community. I have to believe that eventually this voice will be heard in a larger setting and awareness will expand.

Shirley (# 2690) --

Just now starting with the jaw/teeth problems.. jaw is painful and beginning to pop and crack. Also now have a parathyroid problem. Parathyroid might not be related to Prolia, but the jaw and teeth probably are. I have always exercised good dental hygiene so I am discouraged by this potential expensive disaster...

Re: Lizzie123 (# 2716) Expand Referenced Message

It’s been almost 2 years since I lost my front tooth as a result of prolia. My immune system was affected by prolia which resulted in an infection of the tooth. My excellent dentist tried everything to save it but the root was so badly damaged that it finally had to be pulled. Six months later I had to have a bone graft and six months after that an implant. That was 4 months ago and it still is not ready for the crown. I won’t even begin to tell you the cost of this as the insurance companies consider it cosmetic! I’m wearing a “flipper” which is causing terrible gum sores....vanity is a terrible curse for we women but otherwise I’d look like a bag lady whenever I’m in public! So...why wasn’t I told that prolia could cause dental problems? All I can do now, like so many others, is warn anyone considering taking this drug to run, not walk if they are ever coerced into taking it.

I am so sorry that this happened to you. Just know that Parathyroid problems are definitely related to Prolia. How are your calcium levels? Within 3 months of Prolia, I had both Hypocalcemia and Hyperparathyroidism. Hypocalcemia can be dangerous, so be sure it has been checked.

Be well.

Re: Judy (# 2717) Expand Referenced Message

I lost all of my top teeth and it took over a year and thousands of dollars and I still do not look like I have any teeth. Very discouraging. The next time a doctor tells you that the only side affect is a little redness at the injection site, you better run. This drug is poison, please do not take it.

This drug is poison and should be removed from the market. It is a deadly and horrible drug. Amen drug company is still pushing it along with the doctors that prescribe it. It is all about money and not the welfare of the patients. I have and am still suffering from the injections I had. Not much information was available when I took the drug and I trusted my doctor. I really regret ever taking Prolia it has been a nghtmare for me. PROLIA POISON
