Prolia & Hair Loss (Page 23)
UpdatedI've just recently had my second Prolia shot. So far so good...a little back pain. I continually have stress fractures on my feet and have also taken fosamax. My current problem is hair loss & I wondered if anyone else was having that problem?
Re: Anne (# 20)
Thanks for all the info. I think I will skip it. I already have many of the problems mentioned, so guess they would only get worse. I am not Anne.
Four months after 1st shot and loosing large amounts of hair. Scary...
Re: Lizzie (# 440)
Thanks for mentioning hair cut in layers. I used to keep my hair short but after Forteo and Prolia therapy my hair lost caused thin hair, would come out in hand full. Now I have let it grow out only trim ends. Its been over a year when I decided not to do the injections. I think slayer haircut will cover thin spots.
Yes hair loss is another side effect from prolia... pls read all the side effects... there are lots...
Re: Darcy (# 434)
We should number them all!!! I have 2,3,7, and 9 after 2 plus years of no shot.... If everybody lists by number we could tally them... of course it would not do any good because, even with the 3,000 or so responses on Meds chat Prolia site responses, no one would listen...
Yes hair loss skin problems back and joint pain. I tolerated 7 shots before doing some research on Prolia! It was a horrible drug for me, a form of chemotherapy! Same drug they are using for bone cancer patients. I wish I had been given all the horrible side effects of Prolia, I would have never taken it! I have permanent damage from this drug, chronic back, joint and muscle pain. And hair loss still! Poison for me personally! I hope this helps others to not have to suffer like I have from Prolia!
Re: Gloria (# 446)
Check out Worst Pills .org and see what they have to say about Prolia...bottom line is DO NOT TAKE IT.
I had seven shots, they were horrible for me. Hair loss yes, back and joint pain! As I have stated many times this Drug Prolia was horrible for me. Falls from the vertigo is caused, I have permanent damage to my whole body. It aged me by at least 10 years. I did not know that it is a form of Chemotherapy! Give to patients with bone cancer! Wish I had known all of the terrible side effects, I would have never taken it and will never take it again! Prolia Poison!!
I took 7 Prolia shots, was having side effects that kept getting worse after each shot. Joint pain, muscle pain, skin issues, hair loss, yes. Vertigo which I had never had before. The side effects of Prolia are horrible, and the drug has been a nightmare for me. I have permanent damage to joints and muscles. I wish I had never taken this drug. They do not tell you that it is used for bone cancer patients. It is a form of chemotherapy. I wish I had been made aware of this, I would have never taken the first shot. For me, it was a horrible drug. Beware of the many horrible side effects. I hope this helps others to not have to suffer as I have and am still suffering. Will never be the same. Horrible Drug.
Hair loss, horrible back and muscle pain! That is just a few of the many horrible side effects of Prolia. As I have stated many times, Prolia has been a nightmare for me personally! It has done a lot of permanent damage to my body., and I now know I will never be the same. It is a form of chemotherapy, used for bone cancer patients. I have reported it to the FDA many times to no avail. Prolia, a nightmare for me! I hope this helps others not to have to suffer as I am suffering from Prolia!
Hi, Yes, I have lost my hair about 2" back all around my face plus general thinning. It started after my first shot and continued after my 2nd until I stopped the shots. I also had terrible leg pain all the time - worse if I laid down. I have been off for about a year and feel great except when I look in the mirror!
Don't start! Have your doctor calculate your risk of broken bones without medication. My endocrinologist did and found that I had a 25% chance of any broken bone and a 10% chance of a broken hip in the next 10 years. I will take that risk as I feel it is much better than what I went thru with any of the osteoporosis medications! My mother was on Fosamax for years and she broke her shoulder, knee, pelvis 2 times and her hip! I like to think that I have a 75% chance of not breaking any bones and a 90% chance of not breaking my hip in the next 10 years. I am now 79.
Re: Christine (# 29)
I’ve started having incredible hair loss after Prolia injection. I will never have another injection. I am so depressed. I had NO idea this was yet another side effect.
Re: Sue (# 452)
I am not going to lie things DON’T get better. It has been a few years since my last injection and I haven’t had a good day since. Good luck!
Re: Viv (# 453)
NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Re: Sue (# 452)
Had 1 shot-- within two weeks was shedding hair like a dog. Have not had a shot in 3 years. Hair looks normal again but I still shed. I have not used a hair brush since the first shot. I use a comb with large wide teeth and body building shampoos.
Re: Lizzie (# 455)
I’m so sorry to hear that…. I am just so depressed about all of this! It just makes me sick to my stomach. Is your shampoo working for you? And, if so, what brand?
Re: Sue (# 456)
The one that worked the best was Phyto Source Syntress Volumizing lift shampoo by Nexus.. which is now unavailable and I can't find it anywhere. However OGX Thick and Full Biotin & Collagen does pretty well - it is not too expensive - purple bottle. I use a mousse when drying my hair which also gives it some oomph.. I just buy any mouse that says "volumizing" . I am not Farrah Fawcett but I am presentable...
Re: Lizzie (# 457)
Thank you, Lizzie! I appreciate your help with product. I’ve been crying a lot about the hair loss. It really is devastating for women and men but especially women.
Re: Sue (# 458)
You are correct-- it is devastating. In our culture billions of dollars are made by selling the concept that hair is so important. It becomes embedded as part of our identity. Many guys have to adapt as they get older, but again society and the movie industry is more accepting of the fact that bald guys can still be attractively masculine. Bald women are never celebrated in the media...as if we lose our femininity along with our hair.
Definitely hair loss is a major side effect for me cause the hair loss is a LOT!!!
