Hi. I think I took a double dose of my pristiq 100mgs today. I am feeling pretty anxious now as I am worried about what could happen? ## I'm Peter. Accidentally took my wife's prestiq 100mg. What will happen to me today? ## I took double dose of pristiq I have been talking this medication for about 8 or 9 years should I be worried ## My daughter can’t remember if she took her Pristiq today. She knows if she misses a dose she will feel awful tomorrow. Should she take a dose now, take half a dose, or not do anything? ## Generally, taking a one time double dose isn't dangerous, unless you are sensitive to Pristiq, allergic to it, or on another medication it may react with, so please watch for signs of any possible issues, such as severe dizziness, extreme drowsiness, or f...

I have been on Pristiq 50mg for four weeks. I feel like it is working for my anxiety/depression. The side effects I have been experiencing are headaches (starting to improve) insomnia at night-time and feeling confused/having trouble thinking clearly/concentrating. This is the side effect I find most bothersome. Will these side effects ease up in time? ## Most side effects will taper off, once your body gets used to the medication, but that can sometimes take about 5 to 6 weeks. If there is no improvement after that, you should consult your doctor as it might not be the right medication to help you. The FDA lists other possible side effects as including nausea, loss of appetite, and decreased libido. Ref: Pristiq Information Is there anything I can help with?

I weaned myself off Pristiq over the summer and felt fine for a couple months. Then I gained 40 POUNDS in what couldn't have been more than two months. Waist grew 2 inches during that time. Now it's almost March and I've been more depressed over the last couple of months than ever in my life. I rarely have any energy and can't lose the weight. The reason I weaned myself off is because I mistakenly thought I didn't need it any more (the doctor who prescribed it said it "teaches" the brain how to produce whatever it does after a couple years and you don't need it any more). I'm going back on it and praying I feel like myself again - this is a miserable existence. Also, I haven't been able to find weight gain as a symptom of discontinuing Pristiq. ##...

I started pristiq approx 5 weeks ago and altho my doctor assured me that it was a weight neutral drug I have easily gained 12 pounds and right exactly around the middle. I have been very careful not to consume more calories and have even been more active. I am very concerned that the weight gain will continue or will it just become a side effect that the body gets used to and eventually levels out? I do feel so much better on the drug and this has been my only side effect. I have a small frame however, and a dozen pounds all in the same spot is hard to conceal especially in the warmer weather. If anyone has any thoughts on some solutions other than discontinuing the drug I would greatly appreciate the advice. I sure wish that all these antidepressants did not come with some major trade ...

I have been taking 150mg of Pristiq since September; in October I started feeling indifferent about things - didn't care about work or decorating for the holidays; this has gotten worse; is this related to my dosage of Pristiq being too high or too low? ## It may be that your Pristiq dose is too high for you, or it might not be the right medication for you to take, according to FDA reports. Side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and other mood changes. Ref: Medline Plus Pristiq Are you on any other medications? Have you discussed this issue with your doctor?

I am new to taking pristiq and have been taking 100mg for around 3 weeks. Initially my script was for 50mg so I was taking 2. When I got my next script filled I didn't realise they were 100 mg tablets and I accidently took 2 each day for 3 days before I realised they were 100mg, so for 3 days I have taken 200mg rather than 100mg and now I know why I was feeling extremely nauseous and dizzy. I have now just continued taking the 100mg as per normal but am feeling very strange, agitated and dizzy. Has anybody done this before? Should the symptoms settle quickly? ## Hello, Dani! How are you? Yes, the symptoms should settle down, but it may take a week or two. Typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. If they don...

Hi. This is my sixth day in Pristiq 50 mg. If anyone has had a positive experience with this drug, could you please let me know? Does there ever come a time when there is that “ah-ha” day, when you feel great? So far just the simple side effects for me with fatigue, nausea, etc. The side effects alone are making disappointed so far. How long before my optimism gets better? Share your “positive” with me please! Thank you! ## Improvement usually comes gradually, as the side effects start to taper off, and everything improves, but that may take 4 to 6 weeks. According to FDA reports, along with the fatigue, and nausea, you may also experience dizziness, dry mouth, and mood changes. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications? ...

I’ve been on Pristiq for about a year going from 50 mg up to 100. I’ve been having issues with shortness of breath but it’s gotten much worse and I made an appt with a cardiologist after my regular dr didn’t find anything. I had gotten to where I was seriously out of breath walking from the front room if my house to the back. In the meantime, totally unrelated I have been weaning off of the pristiq because of a severe sweating problem that was no longer tolerable. I’ve realized that after being down to 50 mg, one tab every third day, my breathing issue is much, much better. Could it be the pristiq that was causing the problem and has anyone else had this issue? ## According to FDA reports, Pristiq has been known to cause trouble breathing, as a side effect,...

I HAVE BEEN ON PRISTIQ FOR 2 MONTHS AND I HAVE LOSS 20 POUNDS. MAYBE WEIGHT LOSS OR WEIGHT GAIN DEPENDS ON HOW YOU DEAL WITH YOUR DEPRESSION ## I was on Lexapro for 7 years and have suffered tremendous weight gain. Since switching to Pristiq the first week of August, my appetite has been under control and I'm eating much more sensibly. ## Effexor - the last version of pristiq make me loose weight! ## Yes, Depression is also a very big reason which affects weight loss and gain. ## What Kevin stated is correct, plus side effects can always vary from person to person, we are all different, so the way any given medication affects any one of us can be different. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Pristiq as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. How are you...

For at least a year or more I've been taking pristiq (generic) and simvastatin at the same time. I felt that the pristiq was no longer working because I was so very tired all of the time. It dawned on me that maybe there was an interaction between taking simvastatin and pristiq at the same time. I took them separately at least 3 hours apart and today have more energy and as the day wore on kept felling better. I know there isn't supposed to be an interaction if you take them together, but I can't help but think there is. Has anyone else taken them at the same time and then stopped taking them together and had better results with not feeling so tired all of the time and listless? ## Hi Karen, I just wanted to add another perspective or insight into your understanding that the...

I was switched from Pristiq to generic Pristiq (Desvenlafaxine) which if I understand right, is really Effexor. Is there a possibility this could be causing my severe fatigue? Has this happened to anyone else out there? ## My Insurance switched me to the generic (not my choice) about 3-4 weeks ago. Depression has been creeping in and I'm pretty concerned. Yesterday/last night was bad. Today was OK but my energy is not what it should be and my thinking/mood is not where it should be. Hoping to switch back but I don't know what is happening with the insurance...there is a $1000 penalty to go back to name brand!! ## Insurance is disgusting!! I actually feel ok depression wise and the fatigue turned out to be something else. I hope you stay stable ## Thanks. I'm glad your medica...

atrial fibrillation ## Pristiq, which contains the active ingredient Desvenlafaxine, is an antidepressant. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, sexual dysfunction and constipation. ## For 18 years I have been taking Prozac. Each time I have attempted to change, under the care of a physician, I've touched the bottom of depression again. During the last several years my dosage has been upped to 40 mg in the AM and 40 in the PM. I've suffered anxiety, expecially upon awakening in the morning. In the last 10 years I've been divorced from a man with passive-aggressive tendancies. I go to a well reputed psychologist, exercise and eat well. I regularly meditate and do daily journaling, etc. I'm now married to a good person. My psychologist, chiropract...

Hi all, I have been on Pristiq for 5+ years. Soon after I began, I started dealing with night sweats. Not just mild sweat - I'm talking my PJs and sheets are drenched. It is awful! The night sweats have come and go over the years but are currently very bad. I can't seem to get much information on the internet about this side effect being an issue for many people. Has anyone else experienced night sweats from taking Pristiq? ## Hi Erin, According to the manufacturer, sweating is actually one of the most common side effects people experience from taking Pristiq (Desvenlafaxine). However, nih.gov happens to list "sweating" as both a 'general' and 'serious' side effect here: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a608022.html Have you already made your doctor ...

I'm adding a post to hopefully help someone as reading other people's posts has been very helpful/comforting to me! I have been on 50 mg of Pristiq for 5 years and I just made the transition to Wellbutrin xl at 300 mg. My doc switched me because my libido was becoming obsolete and wellbutrin is not supposed to adversely effect this. He had me start by overlapping the two meds for Week 1...Maintaining 50 mg of pristiq and adding Wellbutrin XL at 150 mg. I felt completely fine, didn't notice anything different. Week 2-I was to go up to 300 mg of Wellbutrin XL and completely stop taking the Pristiq. That didn't work. 1.5 days in I was dizzy, minor brain zap feeling (but not as intense as when i would miss a pristiq pill in the past) feeling super emotional (weepy) so much t...

I've been on 1mg of ability with 50mg of pristiq mainly for PTSD purposes and my and some of my symptoms have worsened anger, hyper arousal, nightmares etc. I have tried other medications such as Zoloft,Prozac,Welbutrin all with no success or symptoms that became worse. Is there anything else that I could ask my doctor about? ## Hello, Cliff! How are you? Have you ever tried Risperdal? It has successfully helped many people for a variety of mental health issues, including depression, PTSD, schizophrenia and etc. It's very potent so tiny doses are often effective and the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, somnolence and weight gain. It's an idea to ask your doctor about. Does anyone else have any ideas that may help? ## Try 2 m...

how long does it take for the effects of prestiq to kick in? ## I dont know how long. Ive taken since Monday (day 6 so far) and havn't gotten anything ## Most medications in this class can take 2 weeks or more until you feel the full beneficial effects. That's generally why your doctor will prescribe it and then ask you to return for another appointment in approximately a month. Some of the most common side effects include: drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth and weight gain. Did you have any other questions? ## I have been on pristiq for about a year or so and so far so good. It took about 3 weeks to start helping.

I just wanted to tell all of you trying to get off pristiq, its possible. I was on pristiq for severe panic attacks for 6 months. It saved my life. It gave me a chance to slow down my career, gave me a huge wakeup call. This drug put a cloud over my brain. I was not my happy, fun loving self. I was like a step ford wife. You can't wean off this pill. I was on 50 mg. I did every other day for a month. Every third day for two weeks then cold turkey. It really was not so bad. I layer on my couch for three days, cried a bit and watched movies. I'm happily on all holistic medications, no longer a slave to Pristiq. If I can beat anxiety, anyone can. My biggest advice.. Exercise. Next, surround yourself with positive people. Three, talk out your problems. Good luck. ## Fantastic advice...

I have been on pristiq for at least 3 years 100 mg per day . I have been doing well with this drug. I take it for anxiety , panic disorder , some depression. But lately I have been feeling a little queasy ( stomach) and feeling somewhat anxious . Not sure what's going on because a close friend of mine died recently in a accident And my wife just got diagnosed with stage 1 liver cancer but it was caught early, She is my rock and love her so much I would die if I ever lost her. Thank you ## Hello, Gary! How are you? I really wish the best for your wife. Been on this for 2 years and was doing fine but now depressive symptoms back I can function at work but then spend weekend sleeping. I exercise 6 days a week but feel joyless ## Hello, Lola! How are you? What dose are you taking? It is normal for your body to eventually get used to any medication you take for a long period of time and for it to stop working as well for you. The time frame can vary from person to person, so there's no way to say when it will happen. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Have you consulted your doctor? You may need a dosage adjustment or to try a different medication. ## I've been on pristiq for 8 months. I did improve with depression and anxiety b...
