Primary Complex/ Tuberculosis

My 10 month old son is undergoing treatment for primary complex. 3 months completed out of a total proposed 6 months.
Now the doc has asked him to take iron supplements also. Is it alright to go ahead with iron supplements? I had read somewhere that iron supplements should be avoided during the treatment. Please clarify.
