Prednisone 60mg

I took double dose of prednisone 60mg in one day 9 hours apart for sinus infection. Should I be worried?

I was given a 24 hr prednisone shot yesterday to help with my tight chest and coughing. They prescribed 60 mg for 3 days as I had been taking 40mg 2 days prior. I would like to split the dosage so I don't cough at night. I am also taking albuterol in a nebulizer every 4 hrs as the inhaler was not working as good as the treatments in the doctor's office. Can I split the dosage to 30mg twice daily so I can get relief from coughing while trying to get some sleep? I haven't slept in 2 nights due to the coughing.

Prednisone is a glucocorticoid (adrenocortical steroid).

Unfortunately I was not able to find any definitive information on exactly how much is considered too high of a dose, however, according to Dailymed glucocorticoids have a very long and lengthy list of side effects and it is cautioned that the lowest dose should be prescribed at all times with 60mg being the highest recommended dosage. They go on to say complications of treatment with glucocorticoids are dependent on the size of the dose and the duration of treatment.

I would consult my doctor immediately and inform him you took a double dose to find out if there is anything you need to be cautious of any symptoms.
