Hello, Eugene! How are you?
Sciatica is a group of symptoms usually involving pain and stiffness that result in compression of the sciatic nerve. It can be due to aging, a medical condition or injury. It can travel both legs, or just one, depending on the severity, as explained by the NIH.
How it's treated is entirely up to the doctor.
If he has a traditional pace maker that has metal parts, then no, he cannot have an MRI. However, they can do regular x-rays and CT scans.
Is there anything else I can help with?
