Pls Help On Clonidine Hcl 0.1 Mg

Updated

Hello everyone Happy New Year, i am a 27 year old male and I been taking quite a turn in my life. I just recently quit using marijuana. i was using it for 6 years of my life, and I been dealing with bad anxiety for a long long time. I've also been taking prescription Clonazepam for about a year now 0.5MG's a day. My body is not the same as it use to be I wish I never picked up a joint in my life. Now I recently developed hypertension not high im just at the pre stage. My doctor prescribed me Clonodine HCL 0.1MG a day once a day at bedtime but i take in the morning because my anxiety and symptoms r so bad. I dont understand whats going on with my body anymore my doc said im going thru a withdrawal stage of the marijuana. I also take clonopin so im not sure if taking both of these meds at same time does anything to make my anxiety worse. I find it that 0.1MG a day does help me to come down but im still not able to function and do what i want to do i just want to stay in bed all day because i dont feel like to be sociable or anything. Has anyone dealt with this before same situation as im going thru? Anxiety is the worst thing in the world im telling you i use to be an athlete, book smart and this s*** has ruined me. At times im ready to crawl out of my skin!!! Thanks for any help or suggestions i hope my anxiety gets better and so for all of you dealing with whatever u have!

First of all what the doctor prescribed for you was Clonidine also known as Catapres.
Clonidine is a very strong drug for pre stage hypertension. I wont recommend it at all. I would recommend Amlodipine instead.
The feeling you are having is because of the Clonidine because when you try to withdraw from it, your hypertension and anxiety gets worse. You may develop dry mouth, constipation, sleeplessness (apnea), breathlessness and that frequent feeling like you are about to faint when you try to withdraw immediately or after a long term basis. It means your anxiety is getting worse. If you take it in the morning you feel sleepy or feel fine for sometime and when you take it in the evening you sleep till about 2am and you probably cant sleep anymore. If you have been taking Clonidine you shouldnt instantly withdraw from it.... you should gradually reduce the dosage within a 3 to 4 day period by breaking the pill into half and then a quarter and so on. But before you do that you will need to get some prazepam drops and amlodipne (5mg) tablets.
Make sure you have a blood pressure machine at home because when you withdraw from the clonidine your blood pressure will begin to rise drammatically thats why I suggested the amlodipine tablets. Check your blood pressure at least 2 times a day (before breakfast and before dinner). Start the Amlodipine with 5mg a day if your blood prssure increases (It definitely would). Take 5 drops af prazepam in the morning by 7 am and 7 drops in the evening by 8pm. That will kill the anxiety and help you move on your daily activities during the day time and help you sleep very well at night till daybreak. Just follow this routine and let me know what happens.
Also make sure you do a 30 minute exercise everyday.
Before you make any changes also consult your family doctor.

Hello I have taken clonazapam 0.5 for about 5 years now once a day in the morning. I used to take one at night as well but, have been only taking one a day for the 5 years. My anxiety is so bad now that the doctor prescribed me clonidine 0.1 at night and i am afraid to even start it.. lol. Anxiety is the worst I agree. I find that taking the clonazapam doesn't even work anymore in the morning so now i have been forcing myself to walk and that works alot. I am just afraid to take the clonidine but, i guess it is worth a try. I hope you feel better. Trust me i know what it is like to feel this way.

Just wanted to offer a third perspective on the situational anxiety. From my own personal experience in dealing with anxiety, I find that being in a meditative state of mind throughout the day is very helpful for achieving that feeling of content (e.g. not being focused on the circumstances around you but rather keeping your attention on maintaining your own sense of well-being). I've come to think of it as a game of "redirecting your thoughts" to more positive ones and taking an extra moment to reconsider why you might be feeling a certain way in order to understand what negative thoughts brought you to that feeling to begin with and how you may then decisively "choose" / "shift over to" a more positive thought to focus on that will make you feel better and less anxious.

In theory I think being completely focused on the anxiety once it happens is what causes it to continue spiraling out of control (as you are offering it all of your undivided attention in that moment). But if we can simply turn our attention to something else before this happens, the anxiety you may be feeling in that moment wont necessarily be as hard to break free from.

I've been studying and practicing this in my day to day life and have to say that it's made a world of difference in many areas of my life. Hopefully my post can help offer another perspective for handling such situations; although I know everyone has their own way of learning and dealing with things.
