Please Help Oxycodone Pain Contract Questions (Page 3)

Updated

Im new to this whole thing and i just desperatly need some advice. Im sorry if i ramble in this post im just really upset right now :(

Im 26yrs old and currently on a pain contract. I have taken 4- 20mg oxycodone a day for 5 years due to a severe car accident I had. I will try to make my story as short as possible. I would appreciate any help any one can give me:

Yesterday I went in to get my meds refilled, I was 8 days early which is 32 pills for me. I dont know what happend. I just know their gone so im assuming they were stolen . This is not the first time this has happend. About 2 months ago some one stole 6 pills from me (which i believe was my husband as he has done this to me many times) And i told my dr what happend and he still filled script with the strict warning that if my meds were stolen again hed have to dismiss me because it is my responsibility to keep them safe. After that 1st episode I bought a RX locker from walgreens that i keep in my purse wich is on me at all times, even when I use the restroom. Well so yesterday when i went in i was terrified to tell him that i was short again. I was trying to work my way up to it by telling him that i had been in more pain this month than normal (which i actually was) Hoping that if i just told him i had to take more for my pain that it would be better than saying they were stolen since he had already warned me about that. Well he never even checked to see if i was due and just wrote my script. I was so elated since itd been 8 hours since i had my last pill and was already starting to feel the withdrawls that i just accepted the script without saying anything. On my way out i asked if i could change pharmacys because i was worried that my normal one would hassel me since they knew i had just filled on the fourth, And that was the start to a disaster.

I dropped off my script at the new pharmacy and after waiting 40 minutes they told me that they couldnt fill it because my insurance said i already had filled this month. I told them i always pay cash when im early (which i always have) And they told me: If you can afford to pay cash for your opiate but not the others than maybe we should call the company and have them do a review because you can obviously afford your own care. I couldnt beilieve they said that! I didnt know that i was doing something wrong but i guess i was :( I told them that my doc said to call them if there was a problem, which they replied that it was there decision wether they even wanted to call the dr or not and they have the right to refuse service to anyone. I was so upset that i was being treated like that but keep in mind i was already in withdrawal and im sure i did probably look like an addict. After a very heated conversation i was able to get my script back and just take it back to my normal pharmacy. But by that time they had called that pharmacy and told them about me coming there. Well they ended up filling my prescription but only for 20!! And they wrote me a note on my prescription bag that said " your doctor said to fill only 20 and to make an appointment asap!

I am so scared right now i dont know what to do! I feel like he is going to dismiss me now. Why else would he make me come back in when i was just there yesterday and only fill me 20 instead of my normal months worth. And on top of that he is the only Pain management doc within 350 miles of me. I live in a remote part of alaska :( Not only am i scared to death of having to deal with my pain without meds But if i was only out of pills for 8 hours yesterday and started getting that sick then i dont even want to imagine what will happen if he just stops them. Im just so upset because I did not go over my limit and i do not abuse my meds, SO the only thing i can think of is that my combination code was cracked while i was sleeping :(

So I guess my questions are:

1. If he dismisses me will he atleast step me down off them or do they usually just cut you off cold turkey?

2. Does anyone have any ideas on what i can say to him when i go in on thursday to try and prevent this from happening? Any ideas would help

3. Do you think his intentions are to dismiss me? Ive seen alot of people say when they were dismissed that they were notified immediatly. So Im not sure what to think. I feel like he is because why else call me right back in? But then again he did fill that 20. I know it would only be speculation but id really like to hear what people think.

4. How long do the withdrawals for oxycodone last? and how severe are they?

Im sorry for all the questions Im just unbelievably stressed right and i feel like im goin out of my mind. I have a 10 yr old and a 6yr old at home and my husband lost his job so i am the only source of income for the house and i just cant imagine having to miss work right now due to withdrawaling not to mention i just dont know if im mentally strong enough to do that right now. Im in a crappy place in my life right now and i feel like my meds are the only thing keeping me sane. I just dont know what to do. Please help

I know this is an old post, but i just saw it. You really sound ignorant, and you are probably on some kind of government assistance for your drugs and magically aren't so destitute when it comes to pain meds. Your combination was cracked while you sleep? Come on. Are you married to Jason Bourne or something? Why don't you take responsibility and just admit you're abusing?

Actually, aprazolam (Xanax) is the most-abused benzodiazepine, because it's both strong and fast-acting (never had the clonazepam (Klonopin) wafers, it's a strong benzo and the wafers provide quick action). Lorazepam (Ativan) is a weak benzo, although it does come in quick-release wafers too (I'm pretty sure).

I know this post is mad old but, people giving their doctors links to you tube videos on how it's possible to break into a RX locker or whatever?? I mean come on like your doctor wants to see this. Grow up and be responsible with your medication. These people are NUTS.....

The thing that bothers me about your problem is ...you are concerned about withdrawal and not once did I hear about your pain . I'm not looking to judge . I'm just saying ... I would be a hell of a lot more worried about my pain consuming me . And not worry about withdrawal symptoms ..

It could be that he is just wanting to talk to you about your pain and manage your dosage. I go through pain management and I kept running out early because my dosage was not strong enough. I now take 3 15mg oxymorphone and 4 10/325mg percocet each day. If I run short or run out I go into withdrawals so badly that I feel as if I am going to die. My extremities will jerk, I can't sit still, my stomach becomes torn up something horribly, my head hurts. I feel like I am honestly dying. If I have to buy the oxymorphone on the street they cost between $60 to $140 for each pill. I was called ba k to my Dr. Office and I simply explained to him that what I was taking was not helping enough to control my pain so he increased my dosage. I live in Tennessee and the clinic where I go will call people and tell them over the phone if their dr's are not going to prescribe them anymore meds because most insurance companies will not pay for the visit if you are just going to be cut off. I hope this helped. Please whatever you do, do not allow them to put you on opana or oxymorohone this medicine does help control the pain dramatically but there is nothing else that will cause withdrawals this severe. This medicine was intended for people that are dying and never are supposed to ever be taken off of this drug but now dr's will give it to patients and I don't believe that they even understand how severe the withdraws are. You also build up such a tolerance so quickly and once you are taking this there is nothing any stronger that they can even give to you. These pills are much more addictive than coke or methamphetamine and the withdrawals can be so severe that they can cause death !!!

Im sorry that so many things happen, when in so much pain. I have severe back pain, with no meds & it's beyond description. I have no insurance. I cant imagine, having my rx in my hand & either getting refused or shorted! Just wanted to support everyone. I no it doesnt really help, with the pain you face! God bless.

stop eating your meds like they're candy... you're not fooling anyone.... you're strung out and you know it.... now how can we fix this problem.... you're going to have to bring your husband with you to the doctors to verify that he also has pain and needs some pain killers. baddabing.... the doctor now has two strung out patients to pay him every month. tell him that your pain is very bad and tell your husband to do the same.

Hi, I've got bulging discs from C3-C6 and L3-L5, with the L5 pressing on the S-1 nerve root. I get trigger point injections of Marcaine once a month and I'm living on imitrex for my migraines and ONE 7.5 lortab a day. The key to feeling better and getting out of pain is to exercise. Go to the pool, it's the best and less stress on your body. You WILL feel better, I promise. My parents are on major Oxycodone and they do NOT exercise, they just lay there and talk all messed up. My dad takes 6 a day, and I'm sure they are 80MG's. It's killing them. They will die. My mom went from weighing about 135 to over 250 pounds. She will do nothing even though the docs have told her to get into the pool, go for a walk. She can't walk from one end of the house to the other without it wearing her completely out. She can't even walk three houses down to the mail box. Their doctors disgust me. If she won't do it on her own, for hecks sake, make her make an appointment at a physical rehab clinic three times a week and make sure she's doing what she needs to. Of course now with the weight, everything hurts. Her hips, her knees, etc... So, lets take synthetic opiates to get rid of the pain. NOT a good idea. I got rear ended by a semi in 1989. I'm still 5'4" 104 pounds and I'm 50. Please get off those pills yourself and get in the pool. Slowly go off, or you'll go through horrible withdrawals. My parents are always saying that each of them are stealing each others pills. What happens actually, is they take one, forget they did and take another. Anyway, I'm praying for all of you out there!! YOU CAN DO IT, but ONLY YOU CAN!! Much love and prayers.

If you do you’ll probably be ok after a week or so. Just know the third night is usually the worst. Magnesium, Immodium AD, and sleep aids help. I would recommend weaning off as much as you can before you quit. It will make it easier for two reasons: the flu like symptoms won’t be as severe, but for me, the constant low grade “withdrawals” from weaning down annoyed me so much I was ready to be done before my planned done date, which was good because that left me some spare pills to keep for emergencies rather than taking them all to the end. The withdrawals aren’t like they portray them in the movies. It’s really not that bad. And it’s over in a week or so. Don’t bother with Suboxone or anything unless cravings are an issue. With people who take them for pain and not for “fun” I don’t think cravings come into play, and that’s really all Suboxone is good for since you’ll have withdrawals longer when you come off that.
