After a planned angioplasty of LAD (95%block) a stable patient(no sugar, no BP, Tot.Cholestrol153,but HDL 30, LDL 96 who showed effort anjina. How to reduce the current dosage of Plavix 75 twice, Rozat40 1 daily, and Ecospirin 150 after 1 month? Is Ecospirin, Rozat combination overuse of medicine? ## The medication dosages should not be lowered, unless the patient's doctor instructs them to lower them, or stop one. This is not overuse of medications, multiples are normally prescribed to treat such conditions. A 95% block is very dangerous. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and joint/muscle aches. Is there anything else I can help with?

Just got off Plavix (clop.....) after 18 months on after a stent was implanted in my main artery. I am getting hot flashes about 4 a week.... is that a withdrawal symptom? I am 72. Judy ## Hello, Judy! How are you? It could be, several other people have reported experiencing them, as well, once they stopped taking it. Other withdrawal effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness and diarrhea. However, it could also be hormonal. Have you consulted your doctor? ## Started taking Plavix plus baby aspirin last July after having 2 medicated stents placed. The doctor took me off my replacement hormone therapy related to possible blood clots after stents. Started having hot flashes again, had been on HRT for past 30 years! In the beginning the hot flashes were not so b...

In June of this year, I had an acute event in which my intestines started dying and I came very close to death myself. My son, who is an er dr collaborated with my Drs and suggested they give me Heparin which eventually reversed the condition, saving my life. This week, I have had to see eye specialists regarding the sudden loss of vision in my left eye. After many tests they believe that I had a stroke of the optic nerve. I am a 62 year old female who is on 75 mg. of Plavix a day due to having stents placed in an artery in the back of my heart a year and a half ago. Initially, after having the stents put in I was on Effient but the cost was prohibitive so after about 6 months a new Dr prescribed Plavix. Could these two health emergencies be related to the Plavix? ## Dear Shelley, Sorry...

I was taking plavix 75 milligrams stop take me to start taking horse chestnut 300 milligram my doctor advised me that I need to continue to take my plastic 75 milligrams Along with a horse chestnut but after reading it on the Internet it just doesn't seem safe to me and I need a little advice on the as I do have high chol my stein heart in my right leg. I also take coq10 100 milligrams and cayenne and garlic on 500 milligrams. sorry I had given the wrong email address the first time I sent this ## Hello, Lu! How are you? The reaction is theoretical, it's not actually been proven to occur, so it would be best to follow your doctor's instructions. If you decide you don't want to take them both, then the best one to leave behind would be the horse chestnut, since it is an h...

On plavix for 18 months doctor took me off. what are side effects. ## I was taken off plavix three weeks ago after having been on it for two years ( had stents put in ). I am now having terrible thigh pains and into the hip. In the morning it is manageable but by afternoon I can barely walk. Might this be a withdrawal or might it be something else all together ? ## Have you consulted your doctor? It is very hard to say what might be causing it. Yes, there is always the possibility that it is from stopping the medication. Plavix contains Clopidogrel, which is used to inhibit clotting and, sometimes, stopping it abruptly can cause a rebound effect, which could result in increased clotting. If you are getting them in your thigh and hip, that could explain your pain. However, there are also...

I has a suspected TIA and was placed on Plavix 75 mg. 4 weeks ago. After reading maby articles I wish to wean off and go back on aspirin. Any suggestions how to wean off? Every other day take one? aspirin in bewtween , or what? Thanks gang for your comments. p.s. I don't think I had a TIA and results were negative on tests. ## Hello, Pete! How are you? Generally skipping days, while slowly lowering the dose is the modern preferred method, but only your doctor can help you decide which is safest for you. Do they know what caused the problem? Why were you on Aspirin?

took plavix over 20 years. doc took me off and i noticed really bad headaches. could it be a withdrawal side effect? ## If you were taking it for that long and just suddenly stopped abruptly, without tapering off of it, then yes, that can happen as a withdrawal effect. Learn more Plavix details here. It should taper off in severity soon, after your body starts to adjust to no longer having the medication, but if it doesn't or if it gets worse, then you should seek immediate medical attention, because rebound effects can also occur from stopping such a medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## i wonder why the doctor didnt tell us this... my head has been killing me for 3 or 4 weeks now... shuld i start the plavix again for a week or o until the headaches stop and then b...

I stopped taking my plastics and started using horse chestnut 300 milligram my doctor advised me that I could take them both together but after reading the advice on WebMD um I don't think I should be taking them together I have high cholesterol to stance one of my heart in one of my leg and I just need some help should I take them together ## Hello, Lu! How are you? Are you aware that the horse chestnut isn't actually proven to work? It would have been better to stay on the Plavix and not take it. And since the horse chestnut is a supplement, it hasn't been tested for interactions with prescription medications, so your doctor likely knows more on that. Are you on any other medications?

Ihad my angioplasty done on 1st Aug 2011. I have been taking plavix 75mg for the past 2 weeks. This medicine is very costly 14 tablets costa around Rs1500/-around 30 dollars.I am from India. Can I replace this with Clopilet A 150 which also contains the same active ingrdinet clopidogrel anti coagulating agent pl advice I cant afford this medicine. ## Actually, Clopilet-A contains Clopidogrel and Aspirin, so I wouldn't advise switching to it, without your doctors approval. The regular Clopilet would be the equivalent medication that just contains Clopidogrel and, in that case, there should be no harm in switching, as long as you are taking the correct dosage. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Thank you sir for your reply Regards P.R.Narayanaswami ## I was takken off lipit...

I have been taking plavix and now clopidogrel 75 mg from two different bottles. One bottle has a white pill inscribed 44over148. The other bottle has a pink pill inscribed 34 on one side and E on the other side. Somehow I never noticed this before. Have I been taking the wrong pills? ## Hi, Harvey! How are you? The round, white tablet with the 44 over 148 marking is not a prescription medication of any type, so they are not Plavix/Clopidogrel. Those tablets actually contain 500mgs of Acetaminophen, they are a generic/store brand of Extra Strength Tylenol sold under the name Genepap Extra Strength. Learn more Acetaminophen details here. The one with the E 34 on it, however, is the correct tablet, it contains 75mgs of Clopidogrel. Learn more Clopidogrel details here. Missing doses of your...

My mother suffers from dementia after a stroke 3 months ago. She now has a problem swallowing Plavix. What can I do? Can it be powdered and mixed with something palatable? ## Hi, Audrey! How are you? Sorry about the problems with your mom. As to the Plavix, you can crush and do that with any medication that isn't time released. So if isn't marked as being time released and there are no instructions on it stating that you shouldn't crush, break or chew it, then it should be okay. But since I am not familiar with all the formulations of medications where you live, I do want you to check with your pharmacist/chemist before doing it. Learn more Plavix details here. Are there any other questions or comments?
