Helps w/ depression a epilpsy ## Hi Jacqueline, Thanks for sharing this info on phenytoin. Would you say that it is pretty effective for depression in comparison to other forms of treatment? Phenytoin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants; and It works by decreasing abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Information I've read on phenytoin, states that it is a commonly used antiepileptic that is sometimes used in the treatment of depression. -Although I have yet to read patient reviews on how successful it has been in treating depression. If you're able to shed any light on this based on personal experience, that would be a great benefit to those who are considering its use!

My sister delivered a baby boy 15 days ago by c-section. A week later she had seizures for the first time in her life. Her doctor prescribed her Eptoin 100 mg twice day. i am experiencing extreme sedation on three seperate doses of 100 mg phenytoin sodium ext daily . should i try 2 doses for a while to limit the sedation. i have nocturnal seizures. should 200 mg be sufficient ## Have you consulted your doctor? They would be the best person to advise you on such a matter and it is never advisable to change your dosage, without speaking to your physician first. How long have you been taking it?

patient takes two Triptyline per night together with Phenytoin sodium 100mg x 3- patient is hallucinating ## Has their doctor specifically prescribed them all to be taken at once like this? If they are suffering from hallucinations, it could be due to having to much of one, or both of these medications, at once and the dosages may need to be split up, so they are taken throughout the day. Has their doctor been consulted?

I am an eplaptic patient and I have recently start taking Epsolin which is proving to be good for me. In Canada where Can I get this medication as I got this from India ## The name brand Epsolin is not available in Canada, however, the active ingredient is Phenytoin and it is available as both name brands and a generic. Severe diabetic neurology pain in both legs. Leg cramps, restricted ability to walk and stand. ## This medicine combined with lyrica has helped signifcantly. HoI wever, my gland on my left side has swollen, I do know if it is related. I had other such severe symptoms while eating. I am going to cut back on the medicine and see if my symptoms improve. ## Have you consulted your doctor? Both the Phenytoin and the Pregabalin in Lyrica are anticonvulsants that have also been shown to help with some types of nerve pain. The side effects you listed aren't typical, but it's hard to say how any medication may effect any person that uses it. Hi, My mother is 57. She had been diagnosed for breast cancer in Nov 2009. Right breast removed. Now, very recently 40 days ago, she developed brain metastases. She underwent WBRT and is being prescribed Decdac and Eptoin. Doctor suggested to take Eptoin 100 , all 3 tables together at night. With this she stays stable for close to 18 hours and then again starts getting angry and irritated and forgets many things. Since the effect is for 18 hours, it becomes difficult to give her medicines after exactly 17-18 hours. My question is if I can give her 2 tables twice daily after 12 hours. Would this be effective.
