Our Ped told us we could give our 11 month old (22lbs) 1tsp of Childrens Benadryl to help with her runny nose and cough. I grabbed the Allergy and Sinus one not thinking and now I'm wondering if that's still okay to give to her? ## @Rheiannon, According to the manufacturer, Children's Benadryl should not be given to children under 1 year of age for treating allergies. Reason they say this though is because it causes most babies to be too sleepy. Also for a child weighing 20-24 lbs they recommend 3/4 of a tsp. Personally I don't see a quarter of a tsp having THAT much more of an effect overall on the tiredness of the baby. But then again, everyone responds differently to these meds. However I wouldn't be overly concerned about giving this to your child since yours see...

I have allergic rhinitis and headache I took bioflu ...then my clogged nose are gone but the next day i have severe headache and dizziness and I feel I want to blow. .then I took alaxan and took a nap and my headache is gone ## Hello, Katya! How are you feeling? All medications carry the risk of possibly causing side effects, even BioFlu, especially with the Phenylephrine in it, it is known to cause nausea, dizziness, headache and insomnia. But there is also a chance that your sinus issue caused the headache, since that can also cause them. But both BioFlu and Alaxan contain Paracetamol, so please be careful doubling up as taking too much of it could be dangerous. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Can you take alka. Seltzer pm with hyxroxyzine. And labatole ## The Alka Seltzer Cold PM contains Phenylephrine as one of the active ingredients and it can cause lessened efficacy of the Labetalol, which could result in elevated blood pressure and heart rate. In most cases, however, you can use them in other forms, such as a nasal spray, unless your doctor has told you not to do so. Thank you, Nikunj ## Hi Nikunj, I did some research and unfortunately I'm not finding any cough/allergy medications like Wikoryl in the U.S. that contain Cetirizine, Phenlyephrine, and paracetamol. There are allergy medications such as Zyrtec that contain Cetirizine and other cough medications that contains Phenylephrine and Paracetamol- However I've read that it isn't safe to mix an anti-allergen like Cetirizine with cough/cold medications. The only thing I can think to recommend is Robitussin Allergy and cough syrup which contains: Brompheniramine maleate (2 mg), Dextrmethorphan (10 mg), and Psuedoephedrine (30 mg). This syrup is ...

Is this drug description the same as Benydral ## Is phenyleph the same as benydryl? ## How many of these do I take? phenylephrine hci 10mg ## For anyone still curious, no, they are not the same. Benadryl is an antihistamine that's used to treat allergic reactions and mild cases of insomnia. You can learn more Benadryl details here and you can learn more Phenylephrine details here. But Phenylephrine is a decongestant, that can also be used to raise blood pressure and heart rate. As to how much to take, the over the counter dosing is normally one tablet every 6 hours, not to exceed 4 doses in 24 hours, but please check with your doctor and follow the instructions they provide. Are there any questions or comments?

Any complications to people with high blood pressure ## Yes, if yours is high, you should be very careful. Most antihistamines, such as the Phenylephrine in this can raise your blood pressure and heart rate. The elevation is usually minor for most people, but if you have hypertension, then for you it could raise it to dangerous levels. Just as an example, I'm a hypertension patient that had heart failure and when I was in the OR having surgery, the anesthetic caused my heart rate to start dropping dangerously low, but to bring it back up they only had to use a small dose of the Phenylephrine. It kept my life out of danger, but it also made sure I know why my doctor doesn't recommend using it. Learn more Phenylephrine details here. Learn more Chlorpheniramine details here. What h...

My daughter has allergy.she has clogged nose and sneezing.she took chlorphenamine, but she cnt breath on her left side of her nose.is it safe if i will give her neozep? ## Neozep contains the active ingredients Phenylephrine + Chlorpheniramine + Paracetamol. Because it is an over the counter medication, it is generally regarded as being safe for public use (as long as you follow the dosing instructions). It is also probably a good choice since it has nasal decongestant properties. If you're looking for a simple, more natural alternative, I would recommend using peppermint essential oil for this same purpose. Just 1 drop around the nasal area would be sufficient in my opinion. I hope this helps!
