Pharmacist Refusing To Fill My Script Of Suboxone. What Do I Do??? (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I wet to my doc 7 days early because of running out early. I took my new script to pharmacy and said, this is early so I won't be using insurance. My doc said you can call him if necessary. Well no one wanted to. They filled two per day for three days. On the third day I asked to fill the rest on insurance for the next day. I was one day early. When I called the next morning to have my daily two filled the pharmacy manager said no we won't be filling it for another 5 days. Go to the ER for your withdrawals but don't come here because I won't give it to you. Has this happened to anyone else????

I am stockpiling my suboxone...I am scared that with the increasing numbers of people taking it that there will one day be a shortage. Am I the only person worried about this? I worry that the manufacturers will run out of the ingredients, that there will be a shortage, I think about it all the time!!! Therefore, I take the minimum amount I can get away with and stockpile the rest. They expire though, so be careful about that. I make sure that every month when I pick up (I pick up a month's worth at a time) that I then use up the older ones and save the newer ones. They have about a six month shelf life I think.

Nana, all states have Prescription Monitoring Programs now. Almost all of them also connect to the PMP is neighboring states as wel.

I hate to tell you but pharmacies in ohio run something called Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System (OARRS) which is a tool to track the dispensing and personal furnishing of controlled prescription drugs to patients. OARRS is designed to monitor this information for suspected abuse or diversion. I don't now where you live but I think it's in every state? They can see what you fill and how much. I have been on suboxone since 2010 for chronic pain and I get treated like dirt by some pharmacies but I report them to the medical board and I have had 2 pharmacists fired! That's right! I recorded what they said on my phone and had them say their names and spell it...lol! They were not so cocky after I started playing the recording back for them to hear! They about s*** themselves trying to back peddle their way out of the trouble I was going to cause for them. I am 59 years old and I have had serious surgeries and health problems and my pain specialist knows my history of addiction, which I was sober for 16 years before I had a heart attack, but treats me like a human being who has actual pain, not an addict. When I was in my rehab I was in there with both doctors and pharmacists that became addicted just like any other addict. Not that they woke up one day and said "today I think I shall become an addict" it just happens to the best of us before we realize it. These doctors and pharmacists that judge us patients trying to stay sober should have to go thru the same rehab we have been thru to see how hard we work to get sober and stay sober and then maybe, just maybe, they wouldn't discriminate against us or anyone? Good luck to you, God bless.

Jerry, just to set the record straight, I was talking generally. Secondly, I have no wish to come and live in that bottomless pit of waste that you call the United States of America. No thanks. You can have that ALL to yourself sunshine. But, hey if my comments hit home to you, maybe they were directed at you????

Cookygirl I didn't ask you about how wonderful it is where you live. And don't tell me how I act like a junkie. Stay where you are because you wouldn't make it in the US

That is f'ed up. I also live in Florida, but, I'm no rookie. My Dr won't even try to help me, not even if my meds were stolen by a robber and there is a police report. There is a sign in the office. He won't even ask the pharmacy to do anything because it would put him in jeopardy. Now, the pharmacists are all of a sudden more knowledgeable than a doctor. Give me a break.

Your prescription always comes home unless your place is a daily for IOP… Google Suboxone doctors in my area and you will find them also put for free because there are many that are free as well…

Some pharmacies back in the day put a sign on their from door simply stating "NO OXY"..it follows that these days some pharmacies would not carry suboxone/subutex. it is completely up to the owner or pharmacist in charge what products they stock and what drugs they will not stock. simply business. other reasons range from..Yes keeping "those people" out of their businesses. armed robberies of pharmacies for narcotics are not uncommon as well as burglary potential. In some parts of the country large voting groups simply do not want or appreciate the .gov in their business period..other locales want and appear to need extensive government involvement at any level in their lives..I live near an Indian reservation and the off reservation town that serves as accommodating their overflow population..these ppl are completely dependent on federal state county and tribal governments in order to be housed..receive special services..monitored..policed..and generally taken care of. I tend to need minimal government oversight in my livelihood..my business operation among other things..perhaps you could ask at your local social services or designated non profit agency who will fill your box script..it's entirely possible you could even receive a voucher if you find the proper people.

I agree ,its really made me feel like Im not worthy of proper care, that I am fully insured and pay full co pays and just a piece of trash on side of road,I have no negative history with pain meds or any other reason why Walreens or Walmart (one store) should have ever talked or treated and not refilled or refilled 2 weeks one one occasion except I dont walk in the door all bandaged up but if your were to see under my top are 2 major lumber surgeries removing lower spine (all hardware ) 34 procedures since then, ddeveloped Fibromyalgia, which makes all paun worse, then they took me off Suboxone ,been very sick and still had trouble getting those meds..it s horrible thing to think about the treatment Iv been given for things that are not my fault!!!!

I am positive There are programs to help reduce the cost of the actual prescription. There are NOT any programs to help differ or reduce the cost of the actual doctor visit that I am aware of. If you don't qualify for the assistance with the prescription there is a generic pill form of Suboxone now which is about a third of the price of the name brand film. BUT you have to ask for that or they will probably automatically write you the name brand unless you request otherwise. Let me know if I can be of any help as I am always willing to help someone who is willing to help themselves do better. Best of luck.

Ok So I'm curious. I'm trying to find out if there is a program or anything to help with Suboxone? I had no idea I had Medicaid & had been on it since May 29th 2014. I only found out when I took my daughter to the ER one day in June of 2016 & they told us what her BCBS Insurance didn't cover Medicaid did. The next day I decided to make a few phone calls. Well that's when I found out I did have Medicaid. Tho they had it as a secondary & Had my insurance from when I worked at Kawasaki Primary. Mind you this was in June. Well I go to get my meds filled last week only to find out as of 9/30/16 they had stopped my Medicaid. I never got a letter. I called them and was suppose to hear something back within 10 days. Still nothing.

Oh, yes I was 3 days early, and my insurance will allow 5 days, the Walgreens pharmacist refused to fill the script, and told me the same thing for to the ER, did that, I was taken mine for pain, the ER told me they wouldn't give me any ideas just have to go home. Very rudely I might add.

I know this was written a while ago but... I had the same happen to me! I didn't run out I left mine at the Airport .. My doc said everything would be fine State Law insurance indicates we get a 5 day grace period.. When I got to the pharmacist he had told me that he will only fill my temp supply and after that is done I can come back to get the rest, when I returned on my fifth day he indicated that he can no longer give them to me. I offered money, cash on hand!!! He just told me if I start to get sick go to the ER, well my ER doesn't help with Sub W/D... Finally going back and forth between phone calls, faxing, etc. he said I would have to buy them all at once.. Bs I'm not stupid.. I called my insurance they said he can only refuse to fill them if there's something in the system that indicates the DOC may have issues with the DEA... I freaked out and had to ask he said I can't tell you that information. So I called A different pharmacy and asked if they will fill my script if they had any left they told me yes, I said OK I'm on my way I'm about 20 minutes away. They say can I have the doctor's name that prescribed it. I gave the doctors name and they refused right away. I asked why and he simply told me because he's probably going to be shut down shortly!!! Now here I am sick asf and looking for another doctor.. Remind everyone I don't take what I'm prescribed, thank God. So I went into my stash which only has 15 of them but it's better than nothing for right now until I figure out who will fill this prescription... Has anyone else had this problem? Also, I switched from my local Walgreens to a Corner spot, who sent my Sub doc all my meds one that some doctors don't let you get or should I say take while taking Suboxone and some who don't mind at all and now my new script that he was going to write for me is being questioned and I have no idea I've been on this medication for 12 years never had it reported ever since I switched. Now they know and I was very honest. Of course if I stop I will start having major seizures.. But how? Why?

In order to end my need for strong painkillers, I am forced to undergo surgery to my spine twice within weeks.
If the surgery fails, then what? Will I be reduced to begging for painkillers again?
And why should my choice have been major surgery?
