I am 65 and have had hypertension treated sucessfully with Ibestartin 300/12.5, Amlodine 5mg and perindopril 5mg very successfully. Six weeks I had an emergency admission to hospital with incapacitating leg pain.and as a result had a microdiscectomy and forminotomy operation which was successful. As i have always monitored my BP I was concerned to see my BP increase to levels around 170/90. My doctor changed my medication to Coveram 10x10mg to counter this in place of Amlodopine and Perindopril, which I understand and agree with. Can you advise when results might be reasonably be seen with this increase in dosage. Also I take Zolpidem 5mg and as this is not always effective am considering also taking 2mg of Circadin prescribed by my doctor rather than increase Zolpidem. Is this a reason...

A patien is given Prexum Plus, Coversil and Indapamine, are they not the same drugs? ## Prexum Plus contains Perindopril (Coversyl) and Indapamide, so yes. Though it may have something to do with the dosage and timing, it's common for a doctor to kind of play around with blood pressure/cardiac medications like these to try to figure out what works best for the patient. Learn more Perindopril details here. Learn more Indapamide details here. For instance, when I first started these types of medications in the hospital, I was given a combination exactly like the Prexum Plus first thing in the morning, then the diuretic similar to the Indapamide in the afternoon and another dose of ACE inhibitor similar to Perindopril in the evening. This prevent the diuretic from keeping me up all nig...

Why is headache a side effect of Coveram10? Does it go away in time if I keep taking Coveram? ## Coveram contains the active ingredients Perindopril and Amlodipine. And the very mechanism of action of these medications means they can cause headaches in some people, because they generally dilate the blood vessels to improve blood flow. I am taking Indopril once a day as a preventative treatment as I am a type 2 Diabetic. I have normally low blood pressure anyway which is genetic in my family. I now find it almost impossible to attain an erection since I started to take these tablets. My ballance when driving also seems to be effected. Are these common side effects? ## Indopril contains a derivative of Perindopril, which is an ACE inhibitor and it really makes no sense for you to be on it, if your blood pressure is normally low. is it better to take as low a dosage of coveram as possible which will lower my bp ## Coveram contains Perindopril and Amlodipine and it is used to help lower and control high blood pressure. As to the dosage, you should use whatever dosage your doctor has suggested. If your blood pressure is high, it is necessary to bring it down, as soon as possible. Depending on your levels, that may require a higher dose, for awhile, to bring it down fast. Your doctor should be monitoring you regularly, that way once it does come down to more normal levels, they will be able to see if the medication is taking it too low or just maintaining it there and they can then adjust your dosage accordingly. Have you consulted your doctor on this, yet?
