I just started taking these pills that read cyproheptad 4 mg for > periactin 4 mg. please tel me the weight gain drug name which should not cause any side effect ## First, all medications carry the risk of side effects. There are none that can be promised to be side effect free. Second, there is no medication that will miraculously help you gain weight. Products that claim to do this as vitamin or herbal supplements that are not actually proven to help with anything. If you are a tiny person who wishes to gain weight, your best bet is to follow a proper diet and exercise regimen. Even doing that, some people are just naturally small, so your weight may not change. Regardless of what I try, I can't top 115 pounds and have just accepted that. I WAS TAKING PERIACTIN FOR MY MIGRAINES, BUT I GAINED 15LBS. IN 4 MONTHS. IS THERE ANY OTHER ANIHISTAMINE THAT WORKS LIKE IT FOR MIGRAINES. IT WAS WORKING GREAT FOR MY MIGRAINES. ## My daughter is taking it for stomach migraines and it is working great for her too except for she has gained 6 lbs in six weeks and she is only five. It breaks my heart. Its not fair. But I was ok I continued to use periactin but used it b4 I went to bed nd it made me knock out. It is an antihistamine used to relieve seasonal and nonseasonal allergy symptoms such as hay fever, watery and itchy eyes, runny and stuffy nose, sneezing, nasal inflammation, hives, and rashes. It opens ur appetite and makes u gain weight, but it makes u really sleepy. ## Periactin contains the active ingredient Cyproheptadine, it is used to treat allergic reactions, nightmares, migraines and seratonin syndrome. It is not approved for use in the US as an aid in gaining weight, though since some doctors have found this to be a side effect, they may, at their discretion, prescribe it for such as an off-label use.
